What's Happened At Mar Menor Golf Resort?
Look what's happened at Mar Menor Golf Resort! In the last few years it's been possible to have a different style of property built to, I assume, an individual specification. Not so long ago I had a look at the new builds that were being constructed and drooling at the specs. It looks like there were only a limited amount of plots available and at the time of this video, I visited a ready made new build property for sale at around 650,000 EUROS; it was amazing, but sadly, not in this video. By now, I guess they're all built.

The new properties really don’t fit in with the style of rest of the resort. The new properties look luxurious, but I’d want one built somewhere else where it didn’t look so out of place!

Im thinking of buying a property at mar menor to rent. But it seems like there has been some problems in the past, I'm hearing there are lots of bank repossetions ? Why ?

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. For what it's worth, I would buy in this development if I was looking to buy a lock-up-and-leave holiday property, but that's me. I know the area reasonably well and have been visiting for about 20+ years. Back in the day, I remember the Polaris World TV adverts with Jack Nicklaus saying how good it is and I was sold! I have to say, in all the years since being built. this development has always been one of the best I've seen for the money and lifestyle. It's a place I return to year after year as it is constantly excellent. The restaurants and pub are very good too. There was a time when there was a glut in Spanish properties similar to these being sold (here and in other resorts) and the world was going crazy buying in Spain. Unfortunately, the down turn was inevitable and lots of people ran into negative equity or worse, had their properties repossessed, plus developers were also going out of business. This resort has experienced ups and downs but in my opinion, the ups have outweighed the downs. Do your research and factor in the short, medium and long term, as things can change quickly. Speak to professionals who can help you as all of this is just my opinion gained over the last 20 years or so. Hopefully you'll be visiting the Mar Menor Golf Resort and Spa soon. Kind regards, Matt

Don’t like the new houses and don’t like the spar shop. The old shop was really good don’t understand why it shut? Stayed on the resort 5 times. Back again later on in the month!
The white are painted every five years I used to live on La Torre. Don’t like the new modern ones on Mar Menor.

It's nice to see a development maintained and I hope La Torre can stay looking amazing, as it is a big, beautiful development. Wow, you lived in La Torre? How lovely and I hope you enjoyed your time there. I know what you mean about the new properties at Mar Menor; I like them for the design and architecture, but they look a bit out of place next to the more traditional looking houses.
