I think i was a little trigger happy with the block, but then again, not really.

Affinity is awesome, for new and experienced designers.

Ha ha, that was me! The chip necklace. So funny, chain not included! 😂 I missed this part in the live yesterday - I was late due to trying to reach my elderly mom, who is in the hurricane region. (She was finally able to get through about that time; they're all ok!)

I was just thinking the best thing about this news isn't what they are doing. They are doing it because they have been losing marketshare. They are beginning to see that they need handmade sellers as a hook to get customers. If Etsy were nothing but POD they wouldn't attract the kind of customers I need. Handmade is the core identity without which the entire thing falls apart.

Well, I sort of agree. I think that handmade is the core marketing identity they have to use to make it look like Etsy is different as far as what they allow on the site. It gives the impression that they curate everything on the site, but the reality (as we know) isn't that. I think they've kind of backed themselves into a corner with it, though, because on one hand they're touting creativity but they've eliminated the word "handmade" from the official policy, so they're obviously trying to redefine the site's intention without making too much of a fuss about it. I'll discuss during the next live!

It's a common move.

On every one of my bookmarks with AI graphics, even if only partially, they have categorized it as designed by. Everything else says hand made. I’ll have to see how this plays out to make sure my stuff is in the right category. I do indeed hand make all of my bookmarks.

That might be the default for AI not, I’m not sure. You should check to make sure you have it in the system as handmade using the right category of tools.

@@KaraBuntin It's probably the default. They can't imagine actual artists and makers using AI as a tool to contribute to their work. It is to their credit that they seem to have listened abit by creating these categories. I think there should be a clip-art category but if not Creative Fabrica and Canva probably create their art using AI. It sticks in my craw to say it but they should probably be clicking AI generated. If someone is shipping from their address not a POD provider it likely falls into "handmade". Etsy should check that before flipping their switch. All the Etsy t shirt gurus are tap-dancing about being sure to alter the graphics they are using. Their model of adding 30 listings a week is cracking.

They need to sponsor me because I speak the truth...Sugar Dr Pepper=sweet treat. Diet Dr Pepper=disgusting but it delivers the caffeine.

As a customer that 3 day only coupon will aggravate me - I quite often add stuff to my cart for later (I use it as my supplies needed list, then purchase when I am ready). As a shop owner I would prefer to control that myself! Urgh! More meddling!

Do they think that Etsy buyers actually search using these new category titles? Surely you type the item you want into search and then sort by cheapest first and work from there? Searching using such specific information never gets you want you want on Etsy anyway because their search results are just like Amazon.

Question So if we make part of the materials from scratch and combine it with commercial components for the final product, is it from scratch or assembled. It's really both but there's no option for both.

So help me, I checked at the beginning of your video and my listings said "Made by" with the little hand. I checked again and they're all "Designed by" with the little cursor. (They all have personalization) Grrr Etsy

If they have personalization then the "designed by" might be the default because you're taking information that someone tells you to put on it and doing that, you're not creating the thing to put on it yourself. I think that's the logic behind putting it in that category. It has to be one or the other, so it will probably default to that no matter what you do if personalization is turned on.

My husband didn’t see anything wrong with that when i told him about it.

It's infuriating that they make these changes and then we have to spend hours adjusting all our items to suit their decisions. I've just been to have a look at what I need to change to fit the new categories, and there are so many check boxes to tick or untick. If you have lots of items this is going to take hours. You can't even bulk edit that information. It's literally every item and I have over 200 currently live. Urrgghh!

I have around 500, it took about 3 hours once i got the hang of it.

I hand make bags that I fill with dried lavender or citrus zest to make sachets. Etsy has these categorized as Designed By .... And I'd rather they say Made By.

There's a known glitch they're working on where some things aren't categorized correctly. If it doesn't change soon check to make sure you have your listings set up correctly.

Ughhhh, my jewelry is made entirely of handmade lace that I make myself, but due to the "some" on the components aspect, it technically goes under those because I don't make things like earring hoops myself. 😢 I was so excited for the change, but this has me rather sad, tbh.

It’s very rare I get orders from VA. Most of the orders are in California

So funny you said that. Me too. Had my labs done and I have hypothyroidism! Started meds 2 days ago and feel like a new person. Best of luck. It sucks being tired all the time !!!
