    I loved the way Harvey was shown in this game no matter what choices no made that no matter how many times you try to save Harvey he still ends up as Two-Face showing that the scars were never the reason. But that deep down that was all that trauma and supressed anger that finnaly came out. And John Doe also had amazing story if you choose the villain or vigilante path for him he'll always have an amazing story.

    Agreed. Telltale's Batman was always more about character dynamics than following the source material. I personally stick to the "Save Selina" route but having Harvey without his burns but still slipping into madness from his paranoia and insecurities is still pretty effective.

More of a playful joking tone, to a brutal tone, and a more methodical approach. Best scene for me so far was jim and batman on the roof. I’d love to see a video about Season 2. Despite having its fair share of issues, I think it’s take on the Batman/joker relationship is really interesting. It’s at the very least a unique take. And for once the game actively lets you change, a major story beat by deciding whether or not joker will become a super villain or a vigilante (personally I prefer the vigilante story, but the super villain stories is also really good)

    "at the very least a unique take" is such a disservice. Its one of the only takes on Joker that actually bothers to justify why Batman refuses to kill Joker no matter how psychotic he gets and more importantly why Batman actually believes Joker isb redeemable. That last part is a little bit insane in 90% of continuities but is well founded in Telltale.

    As much as I love TellTale, something that I've hated about them was how misleading their marketing was. The entire premise of their games was that they were choice based story games, but the times your choices actually mattered was underwhelmingly few, and when it came to the choices that really mattered in the stories, they'd undercut the importance of the choice by forcing the story to go in a predetermined route. One of the most annoying times this happened (heavy spoiler alert for Walking Dead season 2 & 3) was when you arrive at a survivor's complex at the end of WD s2 and they'll only let one person in. So, you have to choose as Clementine wether you want to go into the complex alone like Kenny is urging you to, leaving him to fend for himself in the wild but honouring his character arc as a father figure, or if you go refuse to go into the complex and go into the wilderness with Kenny. This was such a powerful ending for s2, but unfortunately they undercut that choice in s3 when you're shown a flashback of Kenny dying in some f*cking car accident, regardless of the choice you made at the end of s2. It was just so frustrating and I felt betrayed by the devs for ruining such a powerful moment in such a transparent way.

Bruce's relationship with his family is superbly done with all the suspicion he ends up having to his father after the deals with Falcone. Having Alfred be the guardian protecting him from bad memories (trying to keep the legacy clean) is also really well done and very real... Matt Reeves undoubtely has seen this story.

    I've personally always had a distaste for how they presented Lady Arkham. I think the thing that bothers me about the character so much is that, unlike a character like the Arkham Knight in DC Comics, there's no "plausible deniability" for the villain. For the Arkham Knight, she becomes who she does because she wrongfully believes for her entire life that Batman killed her mother during a riot at Arkham when she was born. For Lady Arkham, she becomes who she does because she was put in an abusive foster family after Thomas had her parents killed, and then spends her entire life trying to get back at his orphaned son for the sins of the father. I know we all might joke that one Batman villain or another wouldn't exist if that character just went to therapy, but Lady Arkham seems like she genuinely only became a villain *because* of her not going to therapy & working through these issues.

  • @rookiedrifter4273

    @rookiedrifter4273

    4 ай бұрын

    @@Wveth There's a few reasons, but the biggest is that it makes her "purpose" as a villain, I guess, just confusing. People like Joker, Two-Face, Ivy, etc., their origin stories make it so that they can't really ever fully heal due to certain circumstances; they couldn't afford the help they needed, who can really treat a case as unique or severe as theirs, so on & so forth. It's that level of almost... dehumanization, I guess, where you recognize that the person they were before is now lost & all that there is now is whatever took their place. Vicki doesn't have any "excuse" for separation like that. Batman's own personal hand in many of his villains' origins also doesn't play a factor w/ her, because she seemingly made the persona when she was around the same age Bruce was when his parents were murdered, & given that they're pretty close in age, probably not too long after the Waynes were killed. She was a pretty well-connected reporter, & a pretty popular one. She wasn't some weird shut-in, she wasn't ludicrously disfigured, & she likely hadn't started a criminal empire early on. While what happened to her was certainly awful, it's unfortunately not unique even in the slightest. To top it all off, the person who actually wronged her, Thomas, had assumed room temperature in a pretty brutal manner long ago. She had every resource & reason to go get the help she needed especially after she grew up, plenty of other people had probably done so already, so why didn't she? Why did she let the "Lady Arkham" side of her fester once she became a seemingly well-adjusted adult w/ a successful career? All we're really left to wonder is if she's just flat-out insane & cannot accept being wrong so she makes up her own reality so she indeed can't be helped, or if she just refused to seek help & simply wanted to hurt people & used her whole "vengeance" shit as a flimsy justification to help her sleep at night & not realize how messed up she was.

    5:02 yeah, although I normally don’t mind the story making sure some events happen, that that moment felt like it really took away control from the player. I mean, Batman is a master ninja. Even with his injuries, I’m pretty sure he would be able to at least walk backwards so that Harvey doesn’t see you for at least a little bit longer. You could straight up stay hidden by making specific choices (such as staying hidden, and giving Selena a signal to stealth-fully pass him A shirt and pants so he can slip out the bedroom window) until Harvey leaves meaning that your relationship with Mr. Dent will be more positive as Bruce Wayne dependent on your choices but you would have to think on the spot and take the correct series of actions to avoid Harvey discovering you. Now that would’ve been interesting. (Plus, if that means if you decide to take the moral high ground and not sleep with Harvey’s girlfriend, you can also leave the situation without being wrongfully accused.) And if they still want there to be a fight, how about if you stay hidden for long enough you can slip on your Batman costume as Harvey’s second personality begins to get a bit physical with Selena. I’m just spit bawling ideas, here, and all of that would give you a choice as a player, but it would be up to you to make the correct calls, so it means they’ll be more replay value

I loved the twist that Thomas Wayne was a gangster and that this is the source of all your woes. I do have disappointments over how some of the villains get portrayed. I was initially delighted to see Penguin have a personal connection to Wayne, and initially show some sort of affection for his old chum, but then they didn’t do anything with it, and quickly forgot it was even a thing. @@assassin8636 Nope it was a financial flop. I think a fair few people were talking about it, but they were using it as an example of why they didn't like Telltale. Either that or youtube just assumed you'd like it, but didn't show it to the rest of the world.

    I went back to play these recently and man this game is glitchy. There were times when I wondered if things in the background were in shadows or just not rendering. Characters body parts are missing and the character speaking is almost never in focus. I’ll always have a place in my heart for TellTale tho. Wondering if anyone else had these issues

    I love the Telltale Batman games. I’ve actually never encountered any bugs on any of the telltale games that I’ve played over the years that they’ve been out (which spans way over a decade and some change) I love the heavy thematic elements of their games, focusing more on storytelling rather than gameplay. Kind of like playing into the story is just an added bonus to the stories they’re trying to tell. I wonder what’s going to be the next telltale project we’re gonna experience 🧐 🤨

    Wow... who would have thought a telltale game is full of bugs. Is a playable movie. And retells storys from comics when making a comic book game...

    I played this for the first time in 2022 shortly before the release of the Batman. And wow, as someone who loved telltales twd season one this game was a big disappointment. It didn’t really help that I remember knowing a guy who was OBSESSED with this game when it came out and him being really annoying about it, so at some point I was just playing it to make fun of it. It certainly picks up after the 3rd episode but it still wasn’t enough. season two kind of saved the whole series, I only really play season one to add context to a season two play through.

    4:59 this is an inherent bug in all Telltale games. The freedom of choice is an illusion. The story will always going a certain direction regardless of what you do. This is why repeat playthrough have diminishing returns. The more you play them the more you spot the hand of the author and the more the illusion of choice breaks. It’s almost a feature, rather than a bug, and this game is far from unique in this problem.

    The best part about Telltale Batman is that they put a lot of focus on Bruce and Alfred's relationship. Something which each and every single Batman film has ignored or not done properly.

    I always felt limited by the format of Telltale. I grew reading alot of choose your own adventure books. So going into a game that sells itself as a choose your own adventure I'm expecting like 30 endings and for the game to be completely different every playthrough. Telltale games feel like you choose your own edit of a movie. It's subtle. And I'm sure for some people that's the exact draw. But I don't enjoy the subtlety. I'm well aware that I'm asking too much from these games. I think they were just introduced to me in a way that set my expectations too high. They're phenomenal games, just not the phenomenal game I thought I was getting.
