Take EVERYTHING the thief and his family has to make restitution to the victim. Make them pay for the damage... that should be first... then some good jail time.

They should pass a federal law regarding all scrap dealers, nationwide, from purchasing more then one and requiring ID. They are stealing them from one state, where this law is in effect, then selling a large quality in another state. Example: Oregon has this law in effect. Thieves bring them into Washington state where no law exists yet.

It will make the prices higher sparking a underground system. It's not the converter that matters it's the precious metals and anyone can refine them at home with some effort. So then at that point you have to shut down the metal market... Yea it's unstoppable

The thieves are trying to Hustle up lawyer money because they are they are out on bonds or on the run.

It's one thing to steal from large corporations like Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc. but when thieves are committing property crimes that can cost everyday people out there thousands of dollars it's a whole different ballgame. These scumbags are the lowest form of life. People need their cars to provide for themselves and their families so this kind of crime really is an attack on our livelihoods and should be considered a deadly threat. There needs to be a law passed nationwide to allow anybody armed to open fire on these assholes. Really getting sick of these criminals.

Police love stings why haven't they done this sooner. It is so easy just park a lifted tundra in a parking lot and wait a few hours. I got mine stolen off my Sequoia in a Costco parking lot. I was only there for 30mins. Every person I know that has a tundra has gotten hit except one. They even hit my coworkers 1999 ford f-150 but the crooks seem to like the tundras/sequoias the most. This is one sting that is a wonderful idea. It will have 100% public approval.

Just got mine stolen a few days ago and need 2400 to get a new one. I'm planning to put traps around my car and hope to catch one of them near by and it's going to hurt a lot.

mi car has gotten the cat stolen twice in 8 months and i stopped them last time a week ago fro the third time, cops don"t care here in Minneapolis they are intentionally let in get worse in retaliation for people calling them on their corruption and abuse they are letting crime escalade so people cry back for help , i have offered my car and a converter i rigged up with a tracking device but they don't care at all.

People buying them from crooks are also crooks.

Every catalytic converter has a serial number, so you can start each purchase, it must be with a receipt and identification from the seller to the buyer.
