I used to catch that bad boy from Tamworth to Sydney every Christmas holidays. I really miss it as well.
Broken seat ... delays ... yep, that's the XPT, all right! Great video. Very well done.

Hang on this was an Xplorer though in this video. Also I took the Albury XPT last week and it was fantastic, especially that fast section from Albury to Junee.
Coal trains almost always have 80 hoppers. Cessnock boy here
I counted 96 cars and 3 locos ;)
Great train vids Josh ! A tip about Tamworth.. the country music only really happens at the festival & that’s only once a year. If you go to Tamworth any other time of year and go to the local pubs expecting to hear country bands playing you will be disappointed.
Good video.

It has a lot, it’s just the distance between them that makes it hard

It’s alright. It doesn’t have the huge variation of dialects and accents, along with regional cuisines that you’ll find in other spread out countries such as USA, Brazil and of course India and China.

We do have a large variety, we are blessed to have such!
Very enjoyable video. 👍 08:54 I’m guessing that’s the suspension? I noticed the same thing on the Southern Highlands Endeavour.

Thanks heaps, I’ve watched quite a few of your videos! Yeah it’s definitely the suspension, it’s quite noisy.

@@JoshGoesSlow Oh nice! Good to know my hunch was right. Haha
I took an Explorer from Sydney to Broken Hill many years ago. The seats were horrible.

I really enjoyed this video; would love to know what music is playing through 08:00-09:00 ?>
Around 95 one rail wagons.
is this the same train that goes to broken hill?
Are they strict with luggages?
Do the seat numbering start from the back of the car to the front of the car in the direction of the train running? thanks

From what I noticed when I travelled on one myself, First Class seat numbers start from the front of the train leaving Sydney and Economy Class seat numbers start from the rear of the train departing Sydney.
Hi, just wondering how you managed to get a ticket for $40 from Sydney to Tamworth?! Usually it's a lot more than this! Did you have a concession or something?

It was just the pricing at the time I think. I just looked through all my tickets for this journey as I’ve done it a bit. And In 2018 it cost me $80 and it did also in January 2023. But in April 2022 it was $40, I took it twice at that price. Maybe they were reduced during covid? Im not sure to be honest.
Doesn't it stop at Hornsby?

Yes
82 coal wagons
I use them but they are incredibly noisy, smell of diesel, creaky, vibrate and are inexplicably slow and annoying to get tickets.
