In my house. Phones are for adults only. They will get texting and calling when they hit middle school. But my kids will NEVER be allowed on social media.

I hope they get rid of it. One less thing people have to look at while driving, and no you can't multitask....trust me.

Banning TikTok to improve public safety is like banning Panda Express to improve public health.

So glad to see people realizing that Countries don't play by others rules. The Dictatorships like China and Russia can be so dangerous and a lot of people don't understand the underlying implications of what a Country like that can do in the background that most people never realize till it's too late. History and accountability are very important.

There are plenty of other bigger things about China to worry about. How do you enforce it?. In my opinion, social media has been a disaster.

I might be wrong but it's more than one thing. But the two most things I think it is is control and they don't want people to know the truth. TikTok is not a threat in my opinion. Other sites they limit what they want you to know. It's just my opinion but that's what I think some of the reasons are.

Couple things: if you are of voting age, contact all of your elected officials from city council to the White House and let them know that you would appreciate them not putting in little things that aren't germain to the main purpose of the bill. Tik Tok has absolutely nothing to do with foreign aid. Anyone that wants to ban Tik Tok should write separate legislation doing so so that it alone can be voted on according to its merits or lack thereof. Also...if Tik Tok is banned, just use a VPN. If the government is concerned about stuff from China, maybe they should ban the importation of electronics from China. If they can make a.little app that is that nefarious, why do we allow them to send us hardware that could have some really bad stuff in the firmware?

i've become convinced that our politicians don't listen to us. We are not the ones they are beholden to. PAC's who make big contributions to their campaigns, and have the ability to get them primary by backing competitors if they don't behave. And I think most of them are in office to get rich. Did you know our politicians are allowed to use insider information to make investments? The only ones I trust are the progressives who only take small contributions from the public. They are the only ones who are in office to do some good for the country and not special interests. what we need to push for is publicly funded campaigns - that would cut special interests and lobbyists off at the knees

They can not control what Tik Tok hs on it. Wake up. They do not want any way for people to see the other views that they do not agree with.

I’ll be glad when TikTok gets permanently banned from the country. It’s inherently done more harm than good. From decreasing attention spans and short-term memory from it’s short video format to the exacerbation and rise of dangerous challenges and degenerative behavior. It’s even spilled onto KZread and Instagram for competition, but at least there will be one less nuisance on the internet and in larger society.

One less source for news.
