    That bracelet at 6:33 is not made from karat gold, it's gold filled indicated by GF on the tag. The item is made from a base metal bonded to a sheet of 12k gold. The ratio between the karat gold and base metal is 1 part Karat to 20 parts base. So, in other words, only 1/20th of that bracelet is made from 12k gold. It's much thicker and better wearing that gold plated but does not have the value of karat gold.

  • @apprenticemath

    @apprenticemath

    Karat is a fractional measure of purity of gold alloys. The denominator is chosen to be 24, so if the numerator hits the same number, it is 100% gold.

    Gold & Silver mixed makes A Green Medal... not white gold. Either Nickel or Palladium are added to make white gold, Copper and Brass are added to Rose gold mostly Copper though. Silver, Brass, and or Copper are added to Yellow Gold. The most Widely used Karat is 14K witch is 60% Gold..

    Not enough numbers. Stock is say 5 g of 870k mixed with 1 g of 930k will make 6 g of 880k. Math is (6 x 880) - (5 x 870) = (1 x 930)

    Possible issues: Not 3.7 grams Not Italian Not 585 gold Has mercury (toxic on skin) Was stolen, is from the bank robbery last week in Indonesia. Your neighbor picks plastic trash for living. Since when is he a credible source of anything? Hello?? Worth it? Hmmm. It could of course also be 100% legit, but you do the math on chances.

    22k = 91.6% gold content. Problem: for bracelets, rings, chains it is too soft, bends, tears and scratches easily. Only really practical for pictures, statues or coating on something not touched.

    Not happening. It's probably 12 kt which means it's 50% gold. It's a good alloy, adding more gold would just make the links in a necklace too soft and open easy, which is not practical.

  • @Agnelum1

    @Agnelum1

    7 жыл бұрын

    +Lynell Holmes "Why is he writing 26 but calling it 26?" What else should he call "26" other than 26? But he never said 26 anyway. Do you mean 24? That is the standard measure; the purest gold is 24 parts. The same way 100cm makes a meter etc. So 18 carat gold means it has 18 out of the 24 parts is pure gold and 24-18 = 6, so 6 parts (out of the 24) is an allow (some other metal). Likewise, 12 carat gold means it has 12 parts gold and 12 parts allow (i.e. 50% gold). The closer you are to 24 means the purer your gold is. 22 carat gold is 22 parts pure gold (or fine gold) and 2 parts alloy (i.e. 91.67% gold) Everything should add up to 24. For example, you can't say you have 18 carat gold if it's comprised of 12 parts gold and 12 parts alloy. Likewise, you can't say you have 18 carat gold and say it's comprised of 18 parts gold with 10 parts allow because that doesn't add up to 24.

    Nice video. Karat or Carat? Although both these terms are used in the jewelry business, they have completely different meanings, I thought. A karat is a unit of measurement that applies to the purity of gold. A carat is a measurement used in weighing gemstones. Don’t confuse the two. What you are teaching of is the karat. Well, that's how we learned it in the United States.
