Hiya! I'm Kylie, and I'm a sophomore at MIT who was accepted into Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and Caltech. This video takes you right into the heart of MIT calculus tests. Enjoy~!

So an MIT Calculus test is basically like a Calculus test anywhere else....
Lol I guess a lot of people thought MIT would have some weird version of Calc that no one else has seen before. There’s only so much you can do in Calc 1 & 2. Anyway, props to you for posting your scores online!
Calculus 1 is Calculus 1, Calculus 2 is Calculus 2. End of story. What were you expecting?
I thought MIT exams were a lot harder, most of the exercises are trivial
Lmao Asian students studying in Asia are laughing at MIT Tests😂, It's a great school tho
Some indian guys: "hell this calc test is easy af, in india we bla bla bla"
Your teachers are quite good. You don’t have to write whole statements. If I had answered questions like you had in my exams, I would have barely got 2 marks !
Ngl, 80% of Indian Students can easily solve these problems, but I get it. It's not about studying at MIT that is hard, it's getting in.
Uh that's a pretty easy exam, I feel like the french system is harder overall
I go to a community college and this is the same level of difficulty...
Calculus is the same anywhere, the point of going to MIT is competing and networking with the classmates. If you figure this out as a young person, you can go to the library of your state school and learn math and other subjects to the point of being better at those subjects than most kids at MIT. However, our society doesn't actually care about these subjects or how good you are at them; networking is much more important. So that's the real reason to go to MIT.
Everyone in the comments: “huh, that’s easier than I thought”
Your happy/optimistic aura is so contagious and heart-warming...
It’s interesting to see the scope of different classes at different schools. Usually I think of Calc 2 as covering infinite series, different methods of integration and vector and parametric calculus. Calc 2 at MIT seems to dip pretty heavily into what I would conventionally think of as Calc 3 like Gauss Green.
I just recently took an equivalent class to this at a different university. Another issue that people are forgetting is the amount of time that they give you to finish the exam. For the exams you generally have 1 hour, and two hours for a final. From my experience, for most of the exams about half of the students would generally take the entire time to take the exam. I think only one or two of the exams i took in math courses, did i have enough time to complete every question without making an educated guess. Another thing is that the average grade in these courses is generally 0.5-1.0 gpa points lower than other courses. Like at my school, the average gpa for some of these first and second year math classes was around a 2.5, or about a c+ average, when a c- is needed to move to the next course. They also grade you based on how well your class performs, which can make it even more difficult to get a decent grade
Hello everyone!
in greece it is way harder. not only harder but also different. it is more like proving things than just exercises. you have to use "let e > 0" to pass the exams. i think the exams in mit are easy because you havent been taught some basic integrals, limits and stuff in high school. so the calc1 is easier in mit than here but calc 3 is probably about the same as here
Its nice that you only have to calculate, in my college there are teachers that ask you to verbally explain what you are doing in the exercise
Wow this looks hard really soon I’m going to be there hopefully
The reason why this type of school is difficult is due to the pacing and content of the lectures - go watch one and youll instantly see how difficult it is to keep up
