That's not the version of the story I heard. I heard that Howard slapped Sanderson, that Sanderson wrapped him up afterwards to stop him from hitting him again, and that Sanderson made a complaint to HR over it.

If you can't handle someone correcting your kid for being disrespectful that's on you. He's not above being corrected because of his last name.

How is what Sanderson said unacceptable? He was literally proven correct immediately afterward. What is unacceptable is a head coach who has anger management issues and keeps starting fights with everyone. Terrible take.

Not his place to criticize the culture

Howard has multiple episodes of buffoonery. His marginal success (the best season was his first season wth Beilein's team) isn't worth the clown show.

BS response. Culture starts at the top. Howard has set up a culture that isn't allowing open talk and criticism. You guys are making excuses for Howard's temper tantrums. Truth hurts.

The guy on the left is being all Howdy Doody about it all. I'm a Michigan fan. Fans are split about this incident. But no one would be surprised if this was the final straw and Juwan Howard is fired. The reputation of Michigan has been taking serious hits the past couple of months. I, for one, want Michigan to be cleaned up. So I was wanting strict discipline on this. But Warde Manuel didn't take any action. He sees no real problem. Strange. It's become clear to me now Warde Manuel is the problem.

Coach Juwan Howard …a Michigan MAN !

Juwan Howard inherited a highly talented team. From an outsiders perspective, since he has been the head coach and recruited his own players, the team and culture seems to be in decline. When you see that someone has a past history of "anger" issues, you can understand how the atmosphere of the team may be problematic. This is the report of the incident I read: The Athletic, which got the emails and broke the news, wrote Sanderson's email to Howard claimed Jace Howard was "berating" a trainer as he grew frustrated over still not having stepped on the court due to a knee injury. According to the story, Sanderson yelled at Jace, "you’re a student athlete and he is a professional. You don’t talk to a professional like that. That is disrespectful and entitled," and went to walk away. That's when, according to Sanderson's encounter, Juwan Howard charged at him, “angry and ready to fight." The two had to be separated, and even though Howard has been on a "zero-tolerance policy" since he smacked Wisconsin assistant Joe Krabbenhoft in the face in Feb. 2022 - which happened less than one year after he charged then-Maryland coach Mark Turgeon in March 2021 during the Big Ten tournament.

Daddy Ball has ruined many teams, Michigan being one of them.

It sounds like sh*t was rolling off that kid's tongue and he knew daddy would backup his disrespect. Sanderson was not having any of it. Pastner is just simping for Howard.

Michigan supposedly put a zero tolerance rule in place for Howard last season because of the Wisc incident. Sounds like there was nothing physical with the strength coach, so where is the line drawn? So Howard is going to be allowed to get into the faces of others w/o repercussions? Its just a matter of time before Howard screws up again.

Juwan heard the strength coach but not his own kid/player? Why didn't he jump in right away? Sanderson is right, the culture is sour.

I wish he was fired earlier. I would rather have Sanderson still in the program. His training program is a major part of the resurgence of the bball program under John Belien.

Juwan Howard is out of control and Michigan is just as guilty for allowing this clown show to go on and on. Hes a mediocre coach at best. Hes got obvious issues to deal with but coaching is the last thing he should be worried about. Shame on Michigan for enabling all of it to continue.

Good coaches who coach their son are MUCH harder on his kid than the other players

My reaction is simple. Juwan was raised by a single ⚫lack woman, his GRANDMOTHER. So, Juan acts like a woman every time he's upset. He can't reason like a man should be able to reason, so he btches out instead. Juwan IS THE PROBLEM. But here's the new problem for Michigan. If you fire Juwan and don't replace him with another black head coach, then the school will be labeled racist, and Juwan will be cleared of any of his wrong doings. There's a saying: "Once you go black, you won't go back." Now, the saying is: "Once you go black, you CAN'T go back, or you'll be labeled a racist." Or, if you want to keep it short: "Once you go black, you're stuck."

Terrible take from the guy on the left. The player deserved to be told that. You cannot let the players disrespect coaches and trainers for any reason. Coach Howard needs to find out what going on before he reacts. He’s the head coach and needs to set an example but no, he acts like he always does and acts like a thug. He should’ve been fired long ago.

A lot of UM fans want Howard fired for multiple reasons. For one, the program continues to trend in the wrong direction. In addition, Juwan has had too many incidents with rage. Finally, the culture of the program appears to be really bad. It's time to cut ties with Howard.

Juwan Howard was mad because he himself was exposed for creating an insufferably toxic culture, obviously. I predicted this type of fictitious, sob-story excuse for why he would need to just step aside and be relieved of his duties two years ago, btw. You can ask my bartender. ⁠@@xstendolos7529a booster loaned them money. It doesn’t sound like a big deal now, but it was definitely a big deal at the time. There were allegations that the booster was laundering money, but no one ever said the players had anything to do with that. Saying they cheated is a stretch.
