I think that's ridiculous. The late Queen would not have cared as to whether Catherine had a job. In the Queen's generation, neither upper nor middle-class women had jobs. Only working-class women had jobs, in the Queen's day.

She studied at a University and got her degree. She’s a Princess now, they don’t need a job. I don’t believe that Queen Elizabeth, RIP, said that.

Agreed, and she did work at a company for a few years before moving on to work full-time at her parents' business. I doubt that the Queen, who herself didn't have any civil jobs at all while she was a princess and not the sovereign, would mind that Catherine didn't have a massive, revolutionaly career... The poor woman was constantly harassed, photographers were chasing her, calling her at her workplace, making her life incredibly difficult. She did the best she could under the circumstances -- and her work ethic and dedication is showing perfectly in her role as a member of the royal family.

During ww2 Queen Elisabeth worked as a mechanic. That's a job and not as easy as some might believe. I doubt she did say anything negative about Princess Catherine and her job or what she studied. The royal family learned a lot about the news and how they work while Diana was still alive.

She did not work in a physical shop, but for the head office, I know that much. Why, exactly, are you so interested in her career history?

It was Waity Katie *not* Katie Waity. Also 15-16 years ago people did wonder what the heck Kate was doing with her life because waiting around for a guy to (hopefully) propose does look a tad desperate. I have nothing against Kate but her and I are the exact same age and I remember those years and the headlines well. After she finished University she floundered big time and couldn't make up her mind what she wanted to do professionally. Optics wise it wasn't a good look as her indecisiveness made her look spoiled and entitled and she was called out for it in the press. Everything she did do, especially the charity fundraisers, seemed designed solely for Williams benefit, a ploy if you will to show him that she was more than up to the task of joining his family circus. It was her life's ambition and mission to marry William and in the years leading up to their engagement everyone (the press, British nobility and us commoners alike) knew she was piddling around doing nothing of any real consequence, waiting for William to finally "put a ring on it". Thank God he finally did too or she'd probably still be wandering around shiftless and aimless waiting for that damn engagement ring. 😏

I hope that was meant as sarcasm. Being a patron of charities is not a real job, nor is posing for the media or attending Church services and other pointless events. None of these things requires many skills and much experience. You just need to have enough money to get elegant clothes, nice jewellery, perfect shoes and to be intelligent enough to re-heat a cliché or two for every occasion. Yes, all eyes are on her, but she wouldn't be in big trouble if she f...ed up (tbh I don't think she has many "opportunities" for that), as would happen in a real-life job. Always practical and anticipating future encounters at Court, it would almost always be expected that beloved Queen Elizabeth had expectations of every single member of her Family - both present and future members that is. Indeed, it is my personal guess that over time, with Princess Catherine now married to her Prince, Queen Elizabeth saw just how ardently Catherine fulfilled each and every expectation on Her Majesty's personal 'list'. Before anyone knew it, a star was born, a Princess whose benign, august, warm and engaging personality won over a vast legion of hearts throughout the United Kingdom & Commonweath - and beyond! It was the Queen's unbending, unwavering quest to create a Family second to none in so many different ways - and with careful, careful monitoring, careful adjusting of Catherine's perspectives (and so much more!), we now see the why's and wherefore's of nearly all that the Queen expected in both short and long-term. "A place for everything and everything in its place" was a saying that I often heard ... and honestly, how I thought that fit the Queen's own perspective quite well. Dear Lord, how I miss the Queen these days !! She will go on living within the hearts of over a billion people, no less. RIP, dearest Elizabeth, RIP....and job so superbly well done. With still-lonely eyes and hearts mending, we turn to Catherine and her epic, beautiful smile and outlook to help us all heal in the meantime. She is, indeed, Elizabeth's final masterpiece!

The discussion about it was very important during the 5 years lasting divorce war. Before Diana started to care for people dying because of the consequences of HIV there were HIV awareness campaigns in West-Europe with all kinds of celebrities to reduce HIV stigma. In my country many famous celebrities started to care for HIV patients before Dina "jumped on the train". The same with landmines.

I think it's reasonable for the Queen to have felt that way. Usually future employers gauge the job candidate's success/performance on next role based on the person's success/performance on previous role. It's good that everything turned out well and Princess Catherine is an important member of the British Royal Family.

She absolutely worked, worked hard for her parents business on summer breal etc....she knew how to work and did! This is indicative of how much the queen didn't communicate with her grandson about it....

Think about this, ladies in Queen Elizabeth's youth were expected to get married not have careers. The only reason most worked during the late 30's and early to mid 40's worked was because they had to fill in for the men who were fighting in world war II. I have my doubts that she was concerned about Catherine's job or lack of a job. The Queen would have had no problem introducing Catherine to others as Prince William's girlfriend without needing to elaborate on a career. If anyone was gauche enough to ask about her "job" she was working for her family at their successful party supply business. And the person asking The Queen about her grandson's girlfriend's career would nor have been welcomed back into the presence of The Queen as she would not feel it was her place to answer questions like that

While in the Waity-Katie phase, Catherine "worked" in one of her parents' businesses as a - well, an employee - doing no one knows what exactly. Catherine had an education. I think she met William at the right time. If she would've had a full-time career, it may have been difficult for her to leave it behind. Also, it gave her the opportunity to learn about the ins & outs of the Royal Family.

This is actually incorrect. She worked for a fashion designer then worked in her family's business. It was being William's girlfriend and the press scrutiny that forced her to quit her job. HM the Queen knew and understood. That was her real concern for Catherine.
