What PSI should you run in your tires?

Спорт

The age old question in almost every off-road forum - What PSI should I run in my tires? The answer, like most things in life, isn't as clear cut as you might think. Rather than give you a number, we decided to show you the effects of different air pressures so that you can decide for yourself, based on your riding conditions and driving style, what the answer is.

    Good video. I run my Ranger 900xp mostly in the desert on mining roads. My max psi is 20lbs. I have bead lockers so not too worried about tire rolling off. 15 psi seems to be perfect for riding everywhere I go, we are allowed to drive our rigs on streets here in AZ, so it a good pressure for street as well. We do take the rig to Sedona and ride the red rocks, so 10 psi there works for me.

    Exactly! This is not only for a SxS but its universal for all off road machines and really anything with tires. The tricky part is that each tire is different because all of this is based on the machine weight, the rider weight, the tire design, the terrain and the riding style. There is no "perfect answer". Find what works for you and go with it.

    The problem with super low pressure on rocks is that the tire compresses too much and the rock hits your rim. More in situations where you're moving at speed over rocks than slow crawling.

    Excellent !!!!!!!! Proper video!!!! Only a height measurement would have added more. Nice to see a common sense approach to this level of accuracy. I have found significant top speed variance's in these test too. Thanks for the vid

    I'm new to sxs, I have a new to me 2008 Rhino 700 FI Sport Edition. It's nice to know how to properly inflate the tires. I'm gonna have to check my air pressure now that I've seen your video. I'm thinking I'll be adjusting the pressure.

    what happen with the tires that comes with the rzr turbo s? The form of the tire makes that even at 30 psi touch all the ground.In this case It helps to lower the psi too? (On sand)

  • @EminentPerformance

    @EminentPerformance

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes it would still help to lower the PSI for sand. That tire on the Turbo S is a very squared tire so it does hold its contact patch a bit better than most.

    Do y’all still run your tires at 10 PSI and how are you liking the carnivores ? I have Rzr 1000 and I’m looking at getting the carnivores tires as well.

  • @EminentPerformance

    @EminentPerformance

    3 жыл бұрын

    For most applications we still run them between 10 and 12 PSI. (lower for more traction but you have to watch the rocks more). I love the Carnivores over all. They grip really well and seem to be pretty puncture resistant. They are a softer tire than some others so they will wear a bit faster on the roads. But nothing horrible. I would buy them again for sure.

    That is the max psi to seat the bead lol

  • @EminentPerformance

    @EminentPerformance

    3 жыл бұрын

    Tire pressure to seat the bead can vary based on the sidewall thickness, tolerance of the tire bead size and the wheel barrel design. Normally you dont want to be over 30 PSI on an off road tire to seat the bead. I have taken them up to around that pressure then bounced the wheel and tire on the ground to jar the tire into seating before.

  • @Rescuetech16
    @Rescuetech162 жыл бұрын

    35 psi max to set the bead . I really doubt that’s 35psi max operational pressure. More like 18psi .

  • @EminentPerformance

    @EminentPerformance

    2 жыл бұрын

    No sir. 35 psi is max operating pressure. I would think no one would run it there but it is fully capable of running that and some people actually do due to just not knowing.

    With beadlockers 8 PSI.

  • @EminentPerformance

    @EminentPerformance

    4 жыл бұрын

    While for you specific tire and terrain 8 PSI may be great you can not make a blanket statement saying that it is "the right PSI". The right psi depends on the weight of the machine, the terrain driven on, the tire carcass, and the type of driving being done (among other things). So while 8 PSI may work in one situation it would be bad in another on the exact same machine.
