What Part of the Foot to Teep With? (Muay Thai Front Kick)

Спорт

When throwing the teep (aka “Front Push Kick” or “Foot Jab” in #MuayThai), should you strike with the ball of the foot, the heel, the arch, or knife edge? The answer is: yes! It all depends on the target, the trajectory, and the goal of your kick.
Some things to consider:
1. Striking with Ball of the Foot (0:58)
2. Striking with a Flat-Foot (1:20)
3. Striking with the Arch - “Oblique Kick” (1:46)
4. Striking to the Neck (2:26)
5. Teep Partner Drill to Practice (3:04)
6. Striking with the Toes (4:30)
7. Striking to the Chin (5:48)

I really like your videos! And for the men using their toes to hit hard, can you also say where they can find brass knuckles to put on the toes, or how to make them himself for the foot to be like a fist?

Based on my personal experience as someone who heavily uses front kicks or teeps in my game, hit with the ball of your foot when you want more of that stabbing impact and create more damage, hit with the flat of your foot when you want more of that pushing power, and only hit with your heel when throwing side kicks.

Man, i just started Muay Thai, im having a hard time to extend my calf ( im not incapable of doing it, but i find it hard to train the mind and muscle movement ) to do the "ball" teep, because i keep doing the flat foot teep as my fundamental training. Do you have any tips on perfecting and training both teep?

@@roderickshawn8160 are your hamstrings tight? If so start doing extra stretches and slowly build your teep when aiming to use the ball of your foot, my old instructor would make sure it was part of your muscle memory (alot of ex boxers would join)

@@roderickshawn8160 To add to PeanutButter's point, stretching out your hams is a grand idea, I'd add pretty much all of your lower body in some capacity + lower back, but I'd focus on glutes and hams. Tight calves can also hold a surprising amount of flexibility back as well, learnt that one the hard way.

The best front kick variation ...and theres hundrrds is baz ruttens question mark frint kick....chambers a high angled knee...45 degrees away from his body...like a telegraphed round kick...which you set for the dutch block...he then arcs his knee to a normal front kick position...he has. Starched some class fighters like maurice smith using it...very hard to read

I recently learned how to do a side kick and after being able to do it with good form, my front kicks or teeps don't feel as strong as they used to. Are sidekicks always stronger than frontkicks or are there ways to make the frontkick stronger?

Squats and lunges will help your front kick to be more powerful, but you need to get the technique correct first If you only train side kick, of course it will be stronger than front kick. My front kick is stronger because I train it more than side kick
