    As someone who's been experimenting with pants fit and alteration for years, let me offer my 2 cents to other people struggling like I was. The fact of the matter is that if you have short legs, flare and stright leg pants are going to be more challenging to pull off right off the rack, as they make you look shorter, giving you a square silhouette. BUT there is a solution: taper your pants to a 15" leg opening. That's the magic number. You'll still look like you're wearing a more relaxed pant, but that subtle taper will do wonders for your silhouette. If you want the pant to be cropped above the shoe as opposed to draping over the top of the shoe, I find a 14.5" or even 14" leg opening is better.

  • @dahterrasse

    @dahterrasse

    2 жыл бұрын

    for me (5'9", wide-ish hips), I quite like looser fitting pants with a tapered leg opening. I'm not sure what the measurements are, but I find that they are very forgiving about body type. they turn my wider hip area into a relaxed look but don't drown me in a super wide fit. A fit somewhat between slim and straight is also nice, but I prefer the looser silhouette and feel for comfort and because it just fits me personally, I think

    @@Steven-mv9nx honestly I haven’t found a good pant that comes in this kind of fit other than the Levis 502, but I’m not a fan of the cheap materials they use on that model or the really low rise. So what I do is thrift straight leg pants (501, 505, Carhartt, Lee regular fit) and take them to my tailor for a crop and taper. When all is said and done I’ve usually just spent $50-$60 since I saved by thrifting. Hope that helps 👍🏼

    Yeah I accidentally discovered last year that flared jeans look best on me. They give me a beautiful body silhouette and make it look like I've more curves than I really do 😂. I've a pear shaped body, but like a more flattened one so it's not as curvy as Beyonce's is. I always read that flared jeans don't suit my type, but it was very surprising to find out they look best on me. I don't think people should stick to one type of pants. They should just experiment. Sometimes it's not the shape, but the colours. One thing I do know about making ur butt look better tho, it's that the back pockets gotta be in the right position. Not too high, not too low, not too wide. That's what u look for

    I have genetically big thighs in proportion to the rest of my body, they also pack on muscle MUCH faster than anything else (I can actually skip leg days sometimes) so skinny fits started to make me look like I just had christmas hams wrapped in cling foil. Way too tight for my body. I've since stuck with more straight and relaxed fits and it compliments my legs way more. This also really helped me "click" when it came to building wardrobes: I just know what styles suit me more.

Any jeans that aren’t loose fit have always looked like skinny jeans on me, if you want something that can fit that regular cut/ loose fit id suggests the Uniqlo U wide fit pants, or the Dickies Carpenters pants. Don’t worry about the colors or length, you can always get them dyed or hemmed. My favorite pants have always been ones I’ve customize or slightly altered myself.

    The way I get around learning/remembering my measurements is I simply just wear yohji pants and don’t even try for a proper fit... life’s too short for skinny jeans

    I am still wearing skinny (only jeans) but not spray skinny jeans, more like straight to slim cut jeans. But straight loose cargos/pants/corduroy are the new wave.

    I would like to point out that hip measurements are also very important - especially if you have a curvier waist-to-hip ratio

    I now rely mostly on 3 pants I found at kohls that are the most comfortable pants that aren’t joggers I’ve ever worn 2 are Dockers jean cut comfort knit straight fit in dark grey and black And the other is a Haggars active series city flex 5 pocket pant also in black slim-straight fit They are the most comfortable and best fitting pants I have

    found these $8 black wide brandless karate pants in a thrift store with straps for the waist and around the knees if I wanna cinch them, they can easily pass as avante garde, and more fav than my Ricks skinny cargos or bareknuckles trousers atm caught a vibe and that’s all that matters

    little middleschooler here, my favorite type of jeans are skinny flares, i wear mine low waisted with like really anything, small tops look good, big tshirts look good, hoodies and sweaters look good, i also dont mind straight jeans and straight flares, i classify straight flares as when you stand up there is etxra fabric around ur thighs but not when you sit, those pretty much look good with anything aswell, so there you go :)

    Highly recommend rag & bone fit 2s if any of you have thicker legs but still want a slim fit with a nice taper! My rugby/running legs won’t fit into anything else as nice 🤝🤝 (sold @ Ssense/Nordstrom/Neimans/Saks) etc

    I enjoy wearing skinny pants/chinos and favor a high rise because I am a shorter dude with bulkier legs (still a short low frame) which definitely helps you look taller and slimmer. I also try pulling them up (slightly above the waist) and it really gives your the appearance of a tall/slim build which is what I want. Overall, I think that this style works for me.
