I understood the Goose reference immediately. Captain Marvel was a very derivative movie. It borrowed elements from Top Gun, Independence Day, The Right Stuff, Star Wars, and Men In Black.

The real question is how Goose was able to stay on a high security military base for 6 years without anyone realizing he wasn't actually a cat. Nobody wondered why he didn't look any older? No trips to the vet where any number of tests could reveal that he was a non-Euclidean lifeform? Goose never attacked anyone or got hungry and ate a bunch of people?- Though maybe they just took really, really good care of Goose and he never got upset? That'd actually be kinda sweet. Sure they did a top-secret cover up after their head engineer and pilot died, but they take animal care super seriously.
