As a happily married to a Filipina for 15 years now I have this advice: look for someone at least 25, a college graduate, gainfully employed, fluent in English, and then check out her family. They also should be gainfully employed. Then you have to be sure she has no kids and is not married. Marriages are recorded so you can check that out. If she is from a good family she should have a chaperone on the first date; her older sister or brother or a close girlfriend. Red flag if this is not the case - it's part of the culture. If you pass inspection then you should expect to be presented to all the aunties, grandparents and girlfriends. If this doesn't happen - red flag. Take it slow. Don't look for the prettiest girl, look for the best girl. If you find her you've won the lottery and you'll be happy for the rest of your life.

There are basically 3 major groups of Filipinas. 1. Highly-successful Filipinas that include licensed professionals in top management jobs, and successful business owners and entrepreneurs. They share a small percentage of the entire single Filipina population. This group will never date or marry an old ex-pat who is living off his pension. You see the reason why. 2. Working Filipinas. These women have decent jobs like regular jobs in manufacturing, hospitality, government, and other private sectors. These women can support themselves financially. I've been working with Filipinas in their early 20s to middle 30' for more than two decades now and I can say 100% that no one of my current 65 young female subordinates would date a 60-year-old ex-pat who is living off his pension. This group is the happiest group of women. Here in Luzon, they comprise more than 70% of the single Filipina population (excluding students), and more than 60% of single female college graduates in Bacolod, Cebu, and Iloilo. 3. And then we have the third group. Single moms, jobless, and uneducated. Now, because of their given financial and economic condition, I say 9 out of 10 of them will likely date a 60-year-old ex-pat. There is also a very small percentage of the jobless and uneducated single Filipina (not single mom) population who fall in this category. Let's add call center agents who are tired and exhausted from their jobs. Since they are exposed to foreigners, there is also a possibility that they would date an old ex-pat. More than 90% of women who date old 60+-year-old ex-pats are from this category. Why I am explaining this? Because whenever a vlogger mentions "Filipina", we should not generalize all Filipinas. People who date foreign old ex-pats are not the embodiment of the whole single Filipina population. Let's be real. This may sound offensive but the only reason a Filipina would date an old ex-pat is that they want to survive. There's nothing wrong with this as long as the Filipina is not scamming her partner. Talking about dating, again, the "Filipinas" mentioned by most vloggers (local or foreign vloggers) are not the embodiment of the whole single Filipina population.

If I've said it once or twice I'll say it again: don't get married. You can have a long term relationship but you don't have to get married. I want a woman that is a professional and wants to enjoy my company. I don't want to foot the bill for her struggling family. That's just not for me. Been there done that.

I was talking to one pinay for over a year, she wanted me to pay to build a house for her and mom on her land and take care [$$$] so she can give her parents a better life. I said you are 10 siblings if each give 10% of your income to your parents they will be happy and good life. Why expect from someone whom you haven’t even met. That was the end 😂

Good video Subject. I had met and become friends with filipina on Facebook. I spent 3 years video chatting before I came to the Philippines. We have very good relationship. I would have never considered coming to Philippines looking to meet a woman unless I had already been planning to visit and retire here. I got very lucky and she is my best friend and we share a good life together. I have heard some horror stories on KZread about guys who got scammed. When I met my girlfriend she was in her 30's and me in my 50's. There is no way I would be one of those 70 year olds dating young 20 something. I agree with everything you said. I am happier than ever and we have been in friendship/relationship for over 10 years now. I got lucky considering I never ever thought that the Philippines would be where I am now retired.

I had a few Filipino girlfriends in the states before I got married and the last one was a divorcee with two daughters which I had no problem with but after only two months of dating her and her friends were constantly talking about getting married. I am someone who likes to take his time with big decisions and that may have contributed to our breakup but it has worked out for the better. It took two years of dating with my current wife and it has lasted 24 years so far. Something things are not worth rushing.

You're speaking my language, Steve. I'm coming to the Philippines next year and I have dating requirements. College grad, age: 28-35, and no kids. I've found that the majority of the college educated women don't have kids. A lot of expats don't realize that they are the prize. You can be picky. I have a slight advantage because I was already stationed in the Philippines. I know the lay of the land 😎

10/4 Anthony. It would be interesting to poll prospective expats on what they consider Lola. Young women have libidos too. An exercise in juggling fire… I too vowed not to marry again (divorced at 30 - 35 years ago) until I found an enduring match. Have dated many since, a few seriously but no marriage. Many of those Xs are my closest and most enduring friends, and I’ve been perfectly happy with that. It’s easy to see the potential for complicated exhaustion dating multiple Filipina women within a short period of time but if you are looking for a good match it’s probably what is necessary, though you might want to consider one’s willingness to relocate if you do much of it though. As Steve said, things can get sticky. American women might be heartbroken but psychologically/culturally oriented to move on. I met my companion through professional circles almost 8 years ago. We’ve had plenty of time to get to know each other. She’s 10 years younger, a widow with a college aged son and elderly mother, we both have college degrees and strong common interests. There are a few distinct differences as well, we have to work on. We are engaged. I’m retiring next year, planning to move to the Philippines. One of the biggest lessons learned is that until you get to know a Filipina’s family and friends you don’t know what you are getting into. One thing a female Filipina doctor told me recently in a conversation about marriages that don’t work out (what she is doing) is that people marry, have kids, separate and move on (…form a new family, often without annulment). Tricky even for a Filipino/Filipina. I certainly wouldn’t recommend that path for an expat. Be careful guys.

I've watched several of your videos and I'm now subscribed ! Thank you for being direct as well as relaying a contextual aspect of your subject matter. I've been watching numerous videos i preparation for a Philippines visit. My desire is for a "grounded" ex-pat's perspective and I'm not interested in wasting my time in the red-light districts and where to go to find...." I get a little anxious with other content creators because I feel their context is often too narrow and or they're wasteful of their audience's time. Yes, I recognize the irony of my comment related to time and I'm planning a trip to the Philippines, haha... Seriously, I tend to speak more directly like you and I certainly appreciate your wide context. I happen to be one of those you mention in that I've been divorced three times, twice to the same woman so some would say twice divorced. The point is that yes, finding a "life partner", "wife", etc., is an issue worthy of serious thought so as not to wind up in the same kind of situation you previously escaped ! There is no need to rush and only ignore warning signs at your peril ! Once again, good talk, thank you !

I've commented on your videos before because I find them useful, especially to newbies. My wife and I are content living here, in Rizal. We met in HK, 7 years ago, and then decided to relocate to the Philippines as a family 3 years ago. We have our son together and I have adopted her daughter as my own so she has a decent education, future and life. We own about 1m USD in property outright - no loans - and have savings and investments. We live well, in spacious, modern accommodation. She was a schoolteacher but is now a businesswoman, owning both commercial and residential properties and we earn about USD 3000 pcm. We are happy and our family is settled. I appreciate the way in which you dispel certain unrealistic notions foreigners may have about the Philippines. You cannot come here with 20,000 USD and expect to 'make it' as some other bloggers seem to imply. Please, no trolls. It seems that on the infrequent occasions I post a positive comment, I am beset by individuals trying to undermine my existence! and my masculinity because, maybe, I am happy with and trust my wife, and enjoy my life and my family. It's 1:am at he moment, I have a beer in my hand and I shall wake up tomorrow when I am ready, not when I have to.

Hey Steve, good talk, I could only imagine at this point some of the obstacles or differences in the dating scene in listening to the many cautionary tales of others who have had bad and in some cases costly experiences. The fact that you and others take the time and pass this sort of information along to guys like me to avoid certain scenarios is appreciated. I'll most likely be one of the people that'll date here and there when I arrive but first things first, it's my retirement which will involve the usual transition period, learning the lay of the land, etc, and seeing where it takes me. The retirement part will overshadow the relationship aspect of retiring there, anyway thanks again.

If you are making $1200-1500 per month you should realize you are making two to three times what most Filipinos make who are employed in regular full time jobs. So they view you as “well off”. But you need to realize that girl can spend that $1200 in a heartbeat especially as she will likely want to support her family. Plus you have to deal with the fact that a 20+ year old is likely not well educated and very naive and that will get old fast. You can find a wonderful 35-50 year old woman who is much more mature, better educated or at least life experienced, and frankly most filipinas age much better than us westerners. So they can stil look 30 at age 50 while we are going grey and our skin is showing its age. You will be much happier in the long run with someone you can talk to and who can appreciate and participate in a solid conversation and truly share a life with. And if she is only 10-15 years younger than you the physical side is still there. The younger ones are much more desperate, unstable, and likely to cause you major headaches.

The economic disparity is a new and huge issue. Imagine the relationship issues in the US between a professional (business person, engineer, lawyer), 20-25 years into their career path, and a woman 10-20 years years younger than them who works at the checkout counter in Walmart. Nothing wrong with the work you do but there is going to be a lot of issues due to the social class disparity. Also, marrying into a family with a small farm. Small farms in Asia work the same as small farms in the US or anywhere. They borrow money hoping to make a profit on whatever it is they grow but it is an economically precarious business and you are tying yourself to that.

The woman(she's 45) I've been video chatting with for 14 months is a housekeeper who doesn't make much money and probably not real educated but I really like her and plan to go see her about May next year when she can get time off from work. She told me she has two grown daughter one that lives with her in Manila in a room in her employers house. Early on she said she loves me and talked about marriage but not anymore as I told her we need to meet and get to know each other. I'm 72 retired with a good income of about $1,800 a month with some stocks and bonds and an annuity. After watching a lot of your videos I'm weary of just looking at this one woman but after I visit her for a couple weeks I may find that there are well educated and financially better off woman I could be looking at. I'm not sure where this will lead me but just hope I don't do something that will cause for problems.

You're right, many men get blinded by the attention that many younger Filipinas give them and before you know it you're hooked up with the " wrong girl" no offence to the not so educated Filipinas, but for me I'll prefer to have a mature, educated Filipina with more life experience, they're also not telling you they love you after a week. On that other hand it's hard to make judgement of the lady you're dating, unless she's up front with what her life is about.

I started serial dating when I first started coming to the Philippines. Kind of stressful. I did finally meet a gal and have been seeing her for a year now. One thing to understand, you still have to keep up on your looks in order to date 8s, 9s and 10s. 1. Workout and keep your weight down. Muscles = healthy youthful look. 2. Filipinos have good teeth so they'll notice yours. Fix them... 3. Feet. Get a pedicure, they notice your feet for some reason. 4. Hair and beard. I have goatee but understand, filipinas are generally not into beards. Get a haircut and consider dying your hair for a slightly more youthful look. Just a few tips and this is only my opinion. Dating in the Philippines is 1000% easier than the US...

Great info Steve. Not looking for a woman right away. Want to see the country. If and when the time comes 35-45 would be a good age. And will certainly not go into it quickly while thinking with the wrong head 🤣 Coming out there in a couple months.

How about a video on the legal entanglements when an expat settles on a lady who is separated but NOT divorced from the PH father of her 2-3 kids. PH laws seem to favor the non divorced PH father rights when the expat moves in with the non divorced lady and her kids. I am clearly confused about what problems the father can cause for the expat.

Nothing if he is living with a woman already. In most cases it never goes anywhere. Ask a lawyer like I did and in 99.99% of these cases nothing happens. Most Vloggers are full of bologna on this issue. Ask an attorney and you will get the same answer I got unless you got a dumb lawyer. It just doesn’t happen in most cases.

the young beautiful ones are tempting for sure... but there is a cost.. i like to think when come there ill be more selective.. as a guy chemistry is important in and out of the bedroom.. i think a good approach for me would be to always remember try not to hurt anyone.. once you bed them no matter how it goes as a pinay they feel its for life once that happens.. even if you tell them lets enjoy and see what happens.. its tricky.. or dont bring them home to your place meet them for a fun week end away .. it seems deceptive but its better then having someone showing up at your house.. i think try and get my own self use to my new surroundings.. Steve you do a lot of good service.. youre a good example.. cant thank you enough.. hope we can meet in person.. ill be there in april.. just got back here monday.. was in manila and then bohol, Panglao...

Considering a different approach. Finding a filipina GF and bringing her to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam, and either living with her, or setting her up in a cheap apartment there. I've dated filipinas in the Philippines in the past, and sometimes their family and friends caused tension, division, and stress. I'm not sure how to word this to sound acceptable, but seems if I had a pinay GF come with me to another country (NOT Mine, the US, which would require marriage & being subjected to family law), I'd be in a much better position of 'leverage'. I think the odds of being 'extorted' would be low also, which would be more my motivation than 'leverage', by her having less 'power' to pull the 'extortion card' giving me much more 'leverage'. She'd be more likely to actually "think before acting out" if she's in a foreign country dependant on me. I have this fear, which is totally legit, of accidently dating a married filipina, which even if she lied resulting in me having no idea she was married, I'd be "guilty of adultery", which is a crime in the Philippines. Also I fear dating single moms unknowingly, who may be married, or may falsely accuse me if things went south ... you know for what ... which would be a very powerful 'extortion crowbar' indeed, since such a false allegation could get me jailed for life. Of course I'd do some vetting by dating her for several months in the Philippines 1st. Seems like this would be a great idea, and I believe with these countries a filipina can just visit with her passport, not needing special immigration approval like 1st world countries require. If things went south, I'd just buy her a plane ticket and she can return to the Philippines. If she falsely accused me of anything, it would likely be "out of jurisdiction" since the 'false allegation' occurred outside of the Philippines. I could do this in reverse as well, bringing a Thai, Lao, Cambodian or Vietnamese girl to the Philippines, which may even give me more 'leverage', being they'd likely speak intermediate english at best. I don't trust these girls, all of which now own smart phones, especially after "MeToo" and man hating 4th wave feminism ... "Woke" is the 'unwritten law of the land' now ... which I'm sure many girls in SE Asian countries are 'studying up' on.

Very true .Foreigners can experience their wordt nightmare ,if choose the wrong Filipina . There are even a documentary here on KZread ,about a wealthy businessman from U.K, who got killed by his poor wife from Samar . She got her local bf and his friend, to do the actual murder. That British man ,was in his 40s and they had 2kids together. I personally have a Swedish friend, who was threten by the family of his ex Filipina . That was going on for sone years. Now he only go to Luzon Island, far from the Island they live..

The Filipinas are loyal to their family but not to you and the family expects you to support them financially whether I'm in Thailand or the Philippines it's the same everywhere Many Filipinas are not enlightened and have a poor education ( why so many single mothers???) In my case, I love independence, and when I want fun I go to a lady bar the choice is huge

I like the way you explained , thank you. But for me getting to know each other first online is the first recipe. I am sure if me and the man are honest with each other it can build a good communication that lead to a good talk. I think we Filipinas are decent women. Especially if our search for a man is pure and true and I am sure men are decent too. Yea education helps so you will and understands each other but its not about the education its how it handles I might don't have much education but one of my problem is listening to the man. And I hardly understand . There are educated, decent woman , less education I don't think so we are not decent as compare to bachelors degree its how the man handles to a woman. Especially like my English not much okay okay. I am not sure you understands what I am trying to say. If an American is sincere and true for sure me as Filipina I am going to wear my sincerity whether the man is sincere or not .That is why its good to be friends first and no hurry to meet in person so both will know each other better. Just sharing my thoughts. I told the man are you going to get to know me? I wanted you to know that I want to walk in the aisle of marriage in my Catholic church. So I dont like to waste his time. Hopefully men too are not going to make love the woman if they are not try to marry them. Hopefully no trial and error. I am sorry men out there but please it supposed not to do that. If a man and a woman willing to sacrifice each other it will become successful. Itsy thinking just my thinking. We Filipina or example me. I am willing to die for my man. With no divorce.. And lastly hope an American has a feeling too by walking in the aisle of marriage not just court marriage.. I am asking an apology for my opinion I am just being true. God bless you and your endeavors

Yes Steve they are very smart at deflecting when asked about their past. It’s always you are “judging” them but it is fine for them to want to know every minutia of your past. Some men feel they’ll not be in control if they date an educated or older woman and that shouldn’t be the case. Good advice as always Steve.

Thank you for another great video. I would only want to make a small comment. Many people in the west complain on Philippinas who are poor and get interested in a westerner, calling them golddiggers. The filippina might make 1USD a day, while the westerner might earn 100 times that. I wonder how many of the western women who complain would not be head over heels for a guy making 100 times their own income. But then it is called that the guy is "worldly", "successfull" or things like that. But somehow there is no complaints when an older male actor, or billioner marry a young western 18-25 year old girl. I think it is double standards.

As a Filipino here's my suggestions to expats that wants to get marry a Pinay. Look for an educated woman, not someone from the province who didn't even finished elementary, you should look for a wife and not a maid. Go in Metro Manila where people are more educated.
