My favorite thing they've released so far. So many beautiful melodies.

It reminds me of Irish folk tunes turned into black metal lol. It also reminds me of Deafheaven a little bit.

That is exactly where it put me, as well. Deafheaven meets Lankum?

Hey Bryan, thanks for checking this one out, swear im nearly done sending you black metal requests 😂 at least i think you enjoyed this one! as someone else mentioned, I think Liturgy must be a big influence along with some more blackgazey stuff like deafheaven maybe. Theyre a pretty spiritual band so the liturgy influence holds water there too. If you wanted to hear some more of their stuff i recommend their self titled album, think you'll have some pleasent surprises on that too with the folksy acoustic The Well. Such a gorgeous tune. Thanks again 😊

The possible Liturgy influence is a huge thing that I missed and I think you're spot on about. And you're right, I did enjoy this more than the average black metal song 😄

not to dismiss all the neat culmination of influences on the song as I'm sure there are many but if I had to make a comparison that sounds the closest to what Agriculture has done here, I'd say this is a cleaner, more polished, and more blackgaze leaning version of Liturgy. To me Liturgy were always very singular when it comes to the music they put out so I'm always glad to see other bands take inspiration from them

I'm stoked to see you check Agriculture out, I love hearing people's thoughts on their music. They also got a little shoutout from Fantano recently which was really cool imo. I saw them play here in socal and it gave me an even greater appreciation for them - they were delightful to talk to and their performance really captures the energy of their music. Living is Easy is a good track to start with, The Glory of the Ocean is another one typical black metal fans might dig. They have some non-metal songs such as The Well and Being Eaten by a Tiger which scratch a totally different itch.

I would've loved to hear a reaction to the well and then the look pt 1 but I don't know how to make that happen without a full album reaction

When I first heart Agriculture they made me think of Krallice. I don't know if that is accurate as I haven't really heard much from Krallice in quite some time but those experimental unique takes on black metal felt similar to my memory. I definitely need to check out more, great vid!

yep, feels like a culmination of Deafheaven (bay area blackgaze sound), Liturgy ("ecstatic" black metal, adjacent to transcendental bm) and Krallice (experimental songwriting and bass-heavy)

Reminds me of the major parts of Fruhling by Nargaroth, except expanded the idea to the overall theme and song. Very interesting,
