With the delay when you're demo-ing it with the tube screamer sounds very much like the guitar tone in the solo of Time by Pink Floyd to me.Thanks for another video, and hope you and yours are doing great today!

I actually agree. I should have mentioned. Because David Gilmour fattens up his Strat tone (if you study his signal chain) the end output is very similar to how the nf3 sounds

The Swamp Ash Special Narrowfield came first in 2010 with 3 NF pickups as well as the Modern Eagle 3. The McCarty was introduced with 2 NF. The NF3 came in 2011.

The SE NF3 has a 25" scale. I did notice everyone reviewing one, commented on the neck finish and feel. Outstanding. They list the neck carve as pattern wide thin.

Seems like a great guitar. Im not a “strat” guy either and one of my main criticisms of strats is the thin and shrill bridge pickup which usually has no tone control. (Why Fender why? Of all pickups in the history of electric guitar none need it more than the strat bridge) so having a humbucker is a great way to win me over.

The finish on the neck i think paul said its like its dipped in super glue then super sanded down. But whats nice is the neck feels like an oiled finish Dont know what that means lol.... but yeahh. And the neck pattern i believe tbh the closest thing i can call it close too is my dads custom shop mary K strat neck shape

If I were in the market, I would purchase the SE satin standard and save $300 or more as compared to purchasing an NF3 or Swamp Ash or non-standard/non-satin. My cherry 2005 SE satin standard 22 is very comfortable and the humbuckers (non-split-able) are bringing the tones, although I did change the PUPs (I'm thinking I plopped in an HFS at the bridge and an 'artist' neck PUP, but I can't remember -- I'm not opening it up, as there is no need because the tone is perfect). The core NF3 had no fanfare to speak of, noting the NF3 pickups have been employed in core models (and maybe an SE?) in various capacities. As for PUP split, it's something I would use if it's there, but I am a humbucker guy all the way.

@@ministryofguitar I am currently featuring my 2004 core PRS SAS on my channel (not counting 2019, a whole year of featuring just this one guitar - I have a playlist set up). My PRS SAS is an employee guitar (I/we live in Stevensville, although our residence in Stevensville pre-dates the factory). Employee guitars are somewhat of an ultra-private stock, although it would take too much text to explain the employee guitar program. My SAS has a PUP configuration such that the bridge is split, the middle rails is engaged, and the neck PUP is full humbucker (all at the same time, using pull-tone and position-3). It's awesome. That said, my cherry 2005 SE standard satin 22 is so smooth on the neck. I did change the tuners to locking (John Mann did the work -- the tuners are original, and John Mann converted them to locking, for which I highly recommend).

Dont goddam forget the original NF3 used a 25 and a quarter inch long scale. Not 25.5 not 25. Paul did a 25 and 1/4 scale on the original NF3 and DC3. This is also something similar they did with the john mayer super eagle

If PRS is constantly researcing the middle ground between a Strat and a Les Paul, they're wasting their and our time (and money). Simply because there is no middle ground, at least with any tonal significance in the history of electric music. One could actually say the 'middle ground' was there even before the Strat and the Les Paul; it's obviously the Tele and most people have realised this (it took them 70 years!!) The pointlessness of all these efforts is easily demonstrated by the fact that the best PRS models to date are the Silver Sky (a Strat) and the McCarty 594 Singlecut (almost a Paul)...

it sounds like a bright, aggressive Les Paul. with the 'buckers split, it sounds very "Fendery". not surprising, it's a Fender. no, you don't get a position 2 and 4, like on a Strat. but that is a SD Pearly Gates in the bridge, SD '59 in the neck. they split well, whatever that means. it is a mean, toothy, fun guitar. it is specced out to the nines, that IS NOT a veneer, that's a flame maple top. the only thing on the guitar that feels "cheap" is the finish. it's a poly finish, it's a good quality poly finish. but it IS a poly. EVERYTHING else on the guitar is first class, save maybe the Indian Laurel fingerboard. some people don't like Laurel. i don't mind it.

@@DE-GEN-ART that Pearly Gates is one *hell* of a pick-up. Billy Gibbons was involved in it's development, i believe. Reverend Willie G knows his pups, man. the SD PG bridge replacement in a Les Paul has always been very popular. it evens out the LP's proclivity towards low-mid to get more from the rest of the frequencies. particularly the trebs. a nice "sparkle" for a 'bucker with cleans. slices and fizzes with drive and gain. the lows get a nice whip-crack to them. the '59 in the neck is, well it's a '59. they can be a bit "woolly" if you don't have a good one. the Seymour Duncan is a good one. best '59 you can get imo. i have 6 electric guitars, none of them above the high-end of mid-range. i have 2 around the price of the Bastardcaster, slightly more expensive, actually. i have 2 slightly cheaper. the Fender is my most professional sounding and feeling electric guitar. despite the fact that it sounds nothing like a Fender. out of the box it sounds the way i try to get LP style guitars to sound, it sits in the mix perfectly. my 35 year search for the perfect mid-range price LP ended with a fucking Fender, lol. i love the way Fenders sound, when *somebody else* is playing them. i sound like crap on Fender single-coils, whether Strat or Tele.
