Hi Daniel greetings from Montréal Quebec Canada. If a foreigner wants to move in Greece step by step my concern is work 12 months of the year 40 hours a week like here abroad. In Greece I met many foreigners that come from European countries speak the Greek language better then myself work in hotels, restaurants and tour guides for the tourist season 8 months because most hotels are closed in October and most restaurants but people I ask they tell me they return back home in Serbia and return again to work in Greece. So if someone that want to make Greece home where can they work 12 months.. I know big super markets are open 12 months. It’s great I come for 2 months vacation and support local Greek stores, I don’t see me moving to Greece and not working 6 months and contributing to my pension plan and benefits .. give us more information on working in Greece type of work field ..ευχάριστο

I couldn't agree more that small towns are not for everybody, especially for young people. But at 56, which is my case, I'm moving back to Crete (Chania) after 24 years in Athens. Unfortunately life in Athens has become unbearable for most Athenians due to overtourism...The quality of life in smaller places of Greece is pure bless, esp. if you live near the sea.

I grew up in a small community. And you know what? I dont miss the fact that everyone knows me. That if i dated anyone (when i was single) everyone knew and gossiped. Same in other aspects of Life. I am not going back to this. I do miss the nature ,the quick swim on the beach near by though.

    > That if i dated anyone (when i was single) everyone knew and gossiped. Yeah, but this is also another reason that people stayed in their lane. In a big city you are disposable and the people you date are disposable too. In a small community you have to PAUSE and THINK. Therefore if you are to do something, then flings and "situationships" are highly unlikely. You gain something and you lose something. Balance.
