Yes-though players have been killed by both pitched and batted balls in the minors. Mostly by batted balls in situations not unlike that 2014 Spring Training scare. Now, if this Chapman beans a guy called Mays, then you can basically just go ahead and plan the funeral...

@Michael C One of the big things I hate about baseball is a lot of the oldhead, traditionalist “unwritten rule” mentality. Things like players getting mad because somebody watched a home run a little too long, or because they celebrated a little too much, or any of the other myriad things like that make the sport seem so uptight and full of itself. I want to watch people get excited and celebrate things outside of the playoffs, especially in a sport with as much dead time and as little actual action as baseball.

@Annisis Brandishing your gun in a non deadly encounter is a crime called aggravated assault, if you bring out your gun because of a temper, it’s a felony. People who do that not only have no business owning a gun, they will legally lose their right to own. You are dead wrong with your comment. It’s not me telling them, it’s me reciting the law.
@Johnny-xj5qu
3 жыл бұрын
@Annisis Florida’s prosecutors decided to not file charges because he fired at inanimate objects within his home. I.e. they let him off the hook because he’s a rich superstar, and nobody there would admit they saw him firing the gun. He got very lucky and claims that because of the incident he no longer owns a gun. Go ahead and fire 8 times because you’re angry, and see if you get off the hook. Not all of us get superstar treatment
@Johnny-xj5qu

@Annisis I told you. Because he’s a superstar and they were nice to him. There was a lady in New Jersey who fired her gun as a warning shot to stop her abusive husband from beating her again. She got over a decade in prison. She wasn’t a superstar. It’s a fact that even brandishing a gun in non deadly encounter is aggravated assault. You can’t argue that because it’s the law. Aroldis is a superstar, there is your answer as to why he didn’t face charges. You and I would have
@Johnny-xj5qu

@Annisis superstar, let off the hook because of his name, and because no witnesses would say anything. He did break the law. Are you really arguing that? The statute prohibits any person from “having or carrying any dirk, sword, sword cane, firearm, electric weapon or device, or other weapon” and, in the presence of another person, exhibiting the weapon “in a rude, careless, angry, or threatening manner, and not in necessary self-defense.” REQUIRED PROOF To prove the crime of Improper Exhibition of a Firearm or Weapon in Florida, the prosecution must establish the following three elements beyond a reasonable doubt: The defendant had or carried a “weapon;” The defendant exhibited the alleged weapon in a rude, careless, angry, or threatening manner; and The defendant did so in the presence of one or more persons. Fla. Std. Jury Instr. (Crim) 10.5 THREAT NOT REQUIRED A defendant may be convicted of improper exhibition for merely carelessly, angrily or rudely displaying a weapon. It is not necessary that the defendant make a threatening gesture with the weapon in order to be convicted. Kase v. State, 581 So. 2d 612, 613 (Fla. 1st DCA 1991).
