He for sure would have gotten another championship if the Lakers gave him any help at all when he was 26-29 years old. His prime was completely squandered and his longevity was sacrificed getting the Lakers to the playoffs practically every year in a stacked Western conference with zero help from the organization.

In terms of mentality MJ was obsessed with winning and a competitive drive his leadership and ability to make others around him better...MJ was trying to be the best. Kobe was a huge part of my childhood I was born in 91 and grew up a Laker fan and huge Shaq fan I never thought losing Kobe would hurt this much I feel like a part of my childhood left when he passed RIP Bean.

To me Kobe was that lil brother that annoy you jacking up 3s but he matured and became legend before our eyes. That 2008-10 run cements his status one day I'll watch all the docs, tributes but it's still so hard.

All these fans, ex teammates, Lakers greats, current Lakers, ex coaches, media, etc came out to support and show love. Wish I could have been there.

There are those who say Kobe is overrated and not deserving of this love. Laker fans and true basketball fans know it’s very much not true. The city of L.A. is hard to capture the true essence of the city because it’s hard to tell what’s real with all the glamour. Those who are real know real and that is from a genuine place and Kobe tapped into that energy because he never tied to be anything other than the best Kobe Bryant he could be. The city adopted him and he adopted the city. Once he showed them he was willing to work hard to gain their respect and to simply bring championships back to the city. He love basketball and L.A. and that love was reciprocated and will never be overrated.

I remember when Bill Plasche used to write terrible columns in the L.A. Times sports page about Kobe - him & J.A. Adande - now he's on here talking like he was a fan the whole time. Amazing...
