Ғылым және технология

I also thought that myspace's decision to allow users TOTAL control over the colors and pictures of their page's interface as a BAD idea. You'd be cruising along, and then, BAM! Pink and Black are thrown up on a site with an almost unreadable font. The kids probably thought it was 'cool', but adults certainly weren't impressed. It may seem limiting, but Facebook's strict adhesion to a standard interface made the site easier to navigate, and its division of Events, News Feeds, Watch Parties, and Marketplace suggests that 'organization' is not a bad word after all. As a result, Facebook seemed more 'grown up', a more refined site that even 'old people' might use. Of course, as soon as the older folks piled on, younger ones went to find a new place to escape. Is that a bad thing for Facebook. Not really. Having a common place for relatives, old high school and/or work friends to share their lives is totally sustainable. Let the kids have TikTok...

Nah, Facebook don't listen to what you say for adds. There's algorithm that depending on what you like, do, search, look, how long, it can predict, with your own collected data, pretty much anything you will be thinking at certain points. Look up the full documentary on Cambridge Analytica, it'll open your mind to what you actually share.

One of the problems in this day and age is the competition from everywhere, from opensource platforms to KZread comments to networks for work use. Myspace still commands some brand recognition, but it's a mixed bag. Some remember the crappy interface, and some others the moral panic. I'd like a network that's reasonably popular, and not controlled by absolute bastards like Zuc. I did try several contenders back in the day, but most of them failed on some fundamental level by being one-trick gimmick play. The one I really liked got acquired by fucking Google, poorly reimplemented on their cloud platform, and eventually just killed.

If I somehow came into possession of ownership of what remains of MySpace, I would push to make MySpace like it was in the 2000s again. The only detail I remember from it was seeing one of his friends’ profiles and instead of a them having a photo of themselves, they had the parental advisory logo that you typically see on music album covers. I thought it was weird and asked why it was there, to which my dad responded “That’s just the picture they used.” In retrospect, that was probably my first exposure to internet culture.

I found my birthparents on Myspace at age 12. I was born in1994 in a semi-closed adoption (I was allowed letters, but was not to have contact with my birthmother until I turned 18.) My birthmother lived in Alaska where I was born, and I lived in New Hampshire. All I knew was her name and her job. I remember trying to do my sleuthing when the new specs of the internet started to flourish... I found her, contacted her, (2006?) and she connected me with my birthfather. I met him at 14. She and I still haven't met but I video chatted with her for the first time in 2020 after almost fifteen years of only online and phone correspondence. Man... it's surreal. No one thought about-- no one accounted for-- the internet providing that level of opportunity when I was born. I still think back and just... wow. Without Myspace I might have never found my birth parents. It was so SO strange.

I was in college during 2005-2008 - had both MySpace & Facebook. A key moment for Facebook was when they opened up membership to more than just college students. I remember that distinctly- my 13 yr old little sister sent a friend request to my Facebook- and I was puzzled because up until then, Facebook was just a place to post about one’s college experience. Suddenly cousins I barely knew, a-holes from high school... everyone... was on Facebook. That’s something I was hoping this video would cover.

I got MySpace in May 2007 when I was 20 so I managed to get thru my teens and school years social media free. I often wonder how different my life would have been if I had had a smartphone and social media in school. I look back at being 12 and fantasizing about releasing albums and designing cover art. I wish I could go back and tell that 12 year old about bandcamp and tell her that she would have many albums. As for MySpace, I didn't leave and delete it until 2011. Until 2010 it was still my favorite social media because you could customize it and have music. Facebook was boring to me. I got Facebook in november of 2007 only because my best friend had been using it for a year or so, and I really didnt like it. I didn't go full facebook until 2011, and now I dont have the app and check it about once a week on the browser, just because I dont live in the country I grew up in so I want to keep in touch with friends. So I "use" it as opposed to enjoy it.

So you have to mind your P's and Q's as you don't know what will cause the blade to fall. Oh, also, if someone reports a comment, it automatically generates a ban. The only reason I even went on Facebook at first was because my family wanted me to get on Farmville to take care of their crops. Thinking back on it... sad it was my parent way of calming down after work. Watering fake plants.

HTML isn't a programming language. Its literally just using tags to format display.

I remember when I was 12 years old I made a MySpace account and also a Facebook account. Myspace was awesome and so much better than Facebook has ever been I literally never used Facebook and it was known as some weird crappy website that only old people used. Myspace started changing things and then it became crappy. Meanwhile Facebook has stayed almost exactly the same, still crappy in my eyes, except it’s gained massive popularity since. I cannot believe Myspace changed so dramatically, but I’m even more surprised that some thing is lame as Facebook has blown up with fame. Actually even more surprisingly is that Twitter became famous!!!
