Hi Sam! Just wanted to let you know how helpful you have been to me during my application into the army! You've really cleared up some of the questions I have had that I didn't really think to ask my recruiter! I received my date to start basic training at Pirbright yesterday, (17 July!!) and am generally looking forward to it, as well as my phase 2 training to become an armourer! Thank you again, you've made it a lot easier!

When you are deployed (not like Irak/ Afghanistan), how does it actually work? Do you have some spare time where you can do what you want? Can you make contact with your family? Good to know electronic warfare can deploy a lot. I'm looking to join the reserves, Rifles or Signals as a Communication Systems Operator. Do you know if its possible to progess or specialise in Electronic Warfare in the signal reserves? I work in tech in civvie life, but I'm also quite physically active so I want the best balance of Tech and combat in the Signals. Electronic warfare seems the best fit for that within the Signals, unless you know of a better signals combat role?

I'm currently in the process of joining up now, my first 2 choices are Infantry and Light Cavalry, but the 3rd is Electronic Warfare. During a conversation with a family member who was in the Navy for 22 years, and a conversation with a recruiter, they suggested that I go into the most technical role I could or "as high up" as he put it. Problem is, I really want to do the combat side of things, I love the idea of drilling room clearances ad infinitum and really getting stuck in. If I did join Electronic Warfare (which I want to do purely because it has the chance to see combat despite being very focused on technical things) would I still get to scratch that itch of the combat side? Or should I just follow my gut and go Infantry? Thank you for the videos, they're truly great.
