Cons: traffic, heat, humidity, tourists, parking fees, horrible, HORRIBLE drivers, pollen season. Pros: Beach, great weather(yes i know hurricanes), palm/palmetto trees. Lots of things to do around the area outside of myrtle, many places with great food. Open carry state. No regrets moving here. Would we move back to pa? Heck no! Thanks for sharing Carmen and Brian

Funny the pollen here is better than where we moved from in NC. There were tons of huge trees everywhere there so it was really bad. Glad you have no regrets like us! :)

I am thinking about moving here with my younger two sons and hubby. Only thing holding me back is how much I will miss my parents and friends. But I am tired of being miserable here. I live in a not so great area in Connecticut. I know it’ll be a huge change but I’m ready for it. Been thinking of this since I was 21. In 29. This encouraged me to move.

very cool on the video, pro's and cons. nice to share that with folks. something to share with folks maybe is are you both still working, or are you retired? sometimes that makes a huge difference to people coming to the area. if you have jobs that you can work from home or remote, makes a huge difference, jobs in the area are tough i believe, depending on what you do. its so funny how i read people move to south carolina or to the beach and don't do some homework first about things, as you stated. doctors, insurance, etc. then they can't find jobs if still working, then move back home, or can't make it there. it is paradise there, but you have to no what is good for you and your family. but so great that your willing to share all that with your fans. keep up the good work. enjoy your videos. venture up to NMB more, please lol

Moved to the Conway/ myrtle beach area in 2006. My job transfer didn't happen so I got screwed on that. Husband is a very skilled welder with decades of experience and it was pulling teeth to get $12/hr. If you think you're going to get a well paying job think again. And housing costs are out of sight. Horrendous traffic in the summer. Allowed 1hr to drive 15 miles to work. That's my 2cents. We got out

Have been following your channel since we decided to relocate to MB. We’ve been here for 3 weeks and other than the wacko drivers we love it. I’ve lived in a resort area in the past so the traffic doesn’t bother me. Plus I had to travel I95 everywhere I wanted to go so this is nothing. Insurance for us is less and we moved into a nicer house. I feel like I’m permanently on vacation. I had Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Wegman’s within a 20 min drive and never went to any of them so don’t miss them at all but everyone’s different. What I do miss is 1 day Amazon delivery! My mail comes the same time as before(late) and my garbage is picked up on the same day as before. Some things just don’t change. BTW, we relo’ed from Northern Delaware. Keep up the great videos. They help me decide where I want to go play!

We have been thinking about moving to the area as we are retiring soon. We looked in Florida in the insurance and property cost have gone to high so moving to the myrtle beach area to look around plan on a few trips between now and the end of the year. What do u think of little river and conway?
@CarmenandBrian

Conway is nice if you don’t mind being further from the beach. I don’t know much about Little River.
My husband and I have thought of retiring to Myrtle Beach( 5 years ) but as you said the traffic is terrible in the summer. Still thinking of snowbirding for a month or two in the off season. I think we would miss our family too much to move full time. Do you live in your vacation home or did you move somewhere else?

That was super interesting and great to see you both on camera! I went to whole foods tonight after work which is across the highway from trader joe's near where I work so I'll think of you when I go to either of them! Do you feel safe enough to hunker down and stay through the really big hurricanes or would you evacuate?
@CarmenandBrian

We stayed through Ian, which was only a category one. We would evacuate if required. They issue evacuation mandates based on what zone you live in.
Well Carmen I liked this video alot. Why? Because since I retired 3 years ago its always been a place my wife and I were going to move. She passed away 10 years ago from cancer but still want to do it. I want to move to the garden city beach Murrells Inlet area so I'm actively searching with realtors. I need a house big enough for my kids and grandkids to come. Maybe if I win the lottery all will be fixed lol. Thanks for all your videos. The pros out weigh the cons. I already live in SC. Spartanburg. Larry

Glad you enjoyed the video! I’m sorry about your wife. We pass through the Spartanburg area on the way to visit my family that lives in the North Carolina mountains. You didn't mention the low property taxes. Once you have lived for a full calendar year, you get rebates for tourist tax and you pay no school tax. For seniors you can get a homestead exemption and a military exemption that further reduces taxes. This combined took a $3500 tax bill down to $1000 (living within Myrtle Beach city limits).
@CarmenandBrian

@CarmenandBrian
8 ай бұрын
Tourist season runs roughly from March through the end of October. There's also a peak around Thanksgiving and around New Year's. The busiest time is May through August.
I have two realtors that I’m working with to find me a nice condo, preferably I would like to stay in North Myrtle Beach that is where I’m looking. I like barefoot Landing, and a few other areas. Tell me what area you live in and what you would recommend out of the flood area?
@CarmenandBrian
11 ай бұрын
There are FEMA maps that can help you find out if what you are looking at is in a flood zone and your realtor should be able to advise you as well. There can be flood zones within a neighborhood while other parts of it aren't a flood zone so it's really important to look at those maps. Good luck!
Where did you move from? Im asking because to give context to your perspective of living there (ex someone moving from a small rural area versus someone moving from an urban area, etc. )

Ok. Yes we would be moving from a pretty big Midwest city and used to a lot of amenities! Also, I think the winter onslaught of tourists and traffic may be a dealbreaker for us. Thanks!!
Was there a reason you chose Myrtle over N. Myrtle?
@CarmenandBrian

More entertainment, easier access to more non-tourist stores like Costco, Kohl's, Sam's Club, Coastal Grand Mall, etc., closer to Charleston for "big city stuff", but mostly that's where we've had a vacation home the last 20+ years so we just like that area.
It’s going to be hard for me the most because I’m actually moving from New Jersey in 2025 sometime with my parents and younger brother I lived here since I was a baby and I am in love with Roller Coasters and New Jersey is filled with amusement parks and I’m close to almost all of them and sadly South Carolina doesn’t really offer much and the biggest amusement park near South Carolina is Carowinds in Charlotte North Carolina. We do have a condo down which here we got in 2009

Crime, crowding, severe overgrowth without planning for roads needed to handles hundreds of thousands of new residents. The county allowed developers to fill end endless swaths of wetland, swamp to build homes and shopping centers and couldnt care less how it affects the lower lying residents I have lived ob the grand strand since 91, it has only gotten worse and worse..
