A great President, but even a greater human being. He represents what America is about, or was - perfect, no, but good.
Lincoln's funeral train also gave a big boost to one company. The Pullman Company built the funeral car for the train. After it's "tour", the Pullman Company business grew by leaps and bounds and it pretty much became the standard for rail passenger cars all through the Train Age.
I feel so bad 😢Mary Todd to bury three sons and a husband. I can't imagine the pain. My Dad passed when I was 9. I still remember my Grandma's face at his funeral. Her heart was broken into millions of pieces. The same look I saw when my Grandma on my Mom's side had to bury her son. No Mother no parent should ever have to bury their child.
I was watching to see if a certain New York photo was included. That photo shows Lincoln's casket moving along a New York street as a six-year-old boy watched from an upper-story window. The boy was Theodore Roosevelt.
Just two months before he died in 1956 there was a man named Samuel J. Seymour, who as a five year old boy, was at Ford's Theater, and made an appearance on the game show I've Got A Secret, and his secret was that he was the last survivor who witnessed Lincoln's assassination.
Thanks for telling this story.
Interesting and amazing story.
My heart breaks so much for Mary because due to social norms, she probably didn’t get the comfort she needed during that time. I can’t imagine what she went through. 💔
Lincoln was both a great man and president. wonder what would have happened if Booth was not there at Ford's Theater on that sad and fateful day? Lincoln would have lived. it's too bad that time travel hasn't been invented yet because if it was then I would go back in time and prevent this tragedy from ever happening.
If you can still find this video it's well worth watching. It's titled stealing Lincoln's body.

@@TM-yn4iu I am not a bot because I am witty, nor am I old. Ask me any question you seek the answers to, I am a human being just like you that just so happens to love golden retrievers. Don’t you?
