Whistling is such a lost art. When someone is whistling it creates a peacefulness. A hostile environment can be diffused by whistling. My dad was a very beautiful whistler. He could do bird. Songs and lovely toons. Whenever I hear someone whistling nicely I always thank them and encourage them.

I can't whistle. Never could. One day, during a visit to the doctor about snoring, he noticed that my tongue's frenulum (the little stringy fiber that connects my tongue to the bottom of my mouth) was unusually far forward. As it turns out, I'm not simply bad at whistling, I am actually physically incapable of it. Thanks, science!

it looks like she is making her tongue long, thin and rigid to allow for each side of her mouth to act as a resonating chamber she's probably also doing weird stuff with her cheek and throat muscles to control the pitch I don't know for certain just kind of guessing if you have a wide tongue you might not be able to do that or it might take a while to learn how to control the muscles for that position

The lady said she whistles to handle her anxiety made me tear up a little. As a veteran I searched for things to “on the spot” downgrade my anxiety. Whistling is one of my methods, as it brings me back from the expanded issues in my mind day to day. Now, my oldest daughter has caught on, so anytime she hears me whistle we “whistle-talk”. This is no Sylbo mind you, but she knows it calms me down and we have fun with it. With the help of my children this has become one of the most powerful grounding methods that I’ve found for myself. It works for me to pull myself out of aforementioned expanded issues and plants me right where I should be, whistling with two amazing young ladies.

there is something beautiful about seeing people from different races and ethnicity and diverse backgrounds getting along, and bonding with each other over something that seems to be so silly to many others. It seems like the world is so divided political and accusations of racism, at least on the internet. Its very refreshing to see everyone so happy to just do something they enjoy. If there was more passion about silly things in the world, perhaps people could get along more. connecting with someone different than yourself and seeing them as another human and not just a black man, or a white or asian man, or republican or democrat, we could all just be whistlers someday.

The Whistlers Convention has since shut down due to the death of the gentleman who organized it (the man at 2:47) Mr. De Hart was a huge part of the Louisburg community, funding and organizing a lot of big events. (If you ever visit, be sure to check out the beautiful De Hart Botanical Gardens, which was named after him due to his major contributions to it!) Im just outside due to work, alot. So I whistle. It passes the time, it entertains me and also the people around me. In some parts of my town where Im more regularly around, I have been dubbed the Birdman (Vogelmann in german), by the local residents, mostly senior people, who still remember a time where people whistled more regularly, just because they felt like it or were more happy maybe, and I find that very endearing. Some even greet me with "How can you always have such a good mood?" I really don't, but whistling either masks it or helps me get one : )

Thanks for sharing! One of the best videos I have seen here on KZread. At first I thought, "Whistling" Who would want to watch, that, and for 14 minutes? Well, turns out I did, I watched the whole thing twice! Tremendous video, amazing talent, and heart warming story.

I didn't know what to expect when I clicked on this video, but I was pleasantly surprised to watch a story about a group of people being happy and getting together about something they loved.

I never thought I'd say this, but the guy at 7:40 almost had me in tears with his whistle - most people can't manage that much emotion in their singing. Just mind blowing. P.S. - just seeing now that he won the championship, and I'm incredibly happy hahaha

This was really sweet and inspiring. I wish you much success in your future projects. One critical note, the sound needs to be remastered. I was straining to hear dialogue and then getting blasted with some of the background music, had to keep turning my volume up and down. Best of luck to you!
