I am an 17 year old also looking into doing a bachelor in music production (in the netherlands) upcoming year :) Thanks for this video! At first i was a little unsure of doing it because of the job opportunities and overall the hard way of the music industry... but after a while I finally realised it's better to do something you love instead of doing something just to get a living out of it :)

I'm 19 and an Aussie, I tried doing a course in 2021 that I wasn't passionate about and left it, since then I was stressing and wasn't sleeping or taking care of myself and super depressed, I thought about studying music because it's my true passion, I don't go a day without playing/making music. This video really helped me get over all of my stress and actually made me excited to go to school again. I do need to start from the diploma because I don't have any of the requirements to go straight into the bachelors but from what you've explained in the diploma I basically already know. Thank you SO MUCH for making this video, you've basically saved my life haha :)

I am so jealous of your music theory course, I wish I could learn that easy theory as ours were much harder since I study music at Melb Uni. Ours are like hell compare to that as we had to learn Chorales stuff. Ours are called 'Music Language' which we had to learn in the course of 3 years:( Even though my course is a bit different since I study music performance.

Hi Garrett Thank you for provide good information about music course. I quitted music nearly 15 years, when covid-19 locked down I start again and want to learn diploma. I have major problem with writing lyrics but have ability how to create melody or improvise. If I have problem with lyric can I still learn diploma?

  • @GarrettMusic1

there's never a thing wrong with education, get a diploma if you feel that will solve your lyric problem. You can also take classes outside of a university or college as an option or research on youtube and read books on lyric writing too

Hi mate, thanks very useful video. BTW, in terms of learning DAWs, do they teach particular DAW like Pro Tools and that’s it, or do they let you choose the DAW you’d like to master and learn it as an elective for example? In other words, how DAWs are placed throughout the course? Thanks in advance 😁

Hi Nandana. I know that music theory can be pretty daunting, but if you still have six months to a year before you apply to uni and your determined you should be able to learn all you need to pass the theory exam. I would recommend starting a list on all the topics you need to learn and just take notes while watching KZread videos. Also do a few practice exams. I was in your shoes and wanted to pursue a bachelor of music degree without any knowledge in theory. I had six months to learn and prepare and I just got accepted into two universities. If you want any more insight on how I prepared feel free to ask me. Good luck with your future in music:)
