Parts already getting tough. Took my '17 in for last warrantees servicing and a collision guy there pointed out a red '17 on premises (that I almost bought instead of blue one in late '17) that a doctor bought for his HIGH SCHOOL DAUGHTER(!!!). Anyway, red one had fender bumper damage: $6,000!!

That is a great machine! I have the Chevy SS older brother, the Pontiac G8 and bought it new in 2009 and it is still a great car. Of course both vehicles were made by GM's Holden Division in Australia. It is a shame that GM has discontinued both cars. They really filled a gap for a powerful American four door sedan. Thank you for explaining your mods and a great video!

Why does everybody say GM did a terrible job of advertising this car? We only got it because Holden needed 12-15 thousand exports to bring the manufacturing cost down just so the Aussies could build it for themselves. It was never advertised here, and GM wasn’t going to advertise it here because they weren’t really thrilled with the deal that brought it here to begin with knowing before the deal that they were going to shutter the Holden plant in Elizabeth. Besides, it was a distraction from their other performance cars they didn’t want.

I will when it stops raining here. But I'm just under 40k miles now and been running E85 almost exclusively besides maybe once every other month (or on long trips) throwing a tank of 91 in. Now that I run full E85 instead of blending in a 4 gals of 91 in every tank like i did in this video i lose around 3mpg doing full tank of E85 vs 91. I love the car

One of which is simply the fact that it was too expensive. Its sticker price was just above $50,000, and it’s an amazing value for that money, touting luxury car goodies at a discount price. The problem is that you could only get the SS with all that stuff, and for that price. Had there been a stripped-down SS for $35,000 - something that could compete with the Dodge Charger, which is pretty popular - I think it could’ve done well. But I think Chevy nixed this idea because it wouldn’t have made financial sense. The SS was built in Australia, and surely it wasn’t cheap to pay relatively pricey Australian labor to make the car, then add in shipping costs from such a faraway land. My thinking is Chevy had to pump it full of features so they could jack up the price, as a "stripped-down" SS never would’ve been profitable - even if it had been popular. Another Aussie icon Holden dead by fucking morons running Holden into the ground by making poor decisions and not moving with the times! RIP Aussie muscle cars......
