I love how half the time they chirp more than they meow. Gotta be one of my favorite cat noises.

They have been learning to talk to a human for hundreds years. Cats don't talk like that between themselves. It's a special language. Appreciate it!

"Cats don't talk like that between themselves." Adult cats don't, but kittens certainly do, when talking to their mother. Humans have taken over the position of mother, the provider of food. Hence, domestic cats spend their whole lives pretending to be kittens so as to make sure their humans continue providing food, warmth, and protection. So, you can see that cats have been learning to "meow" for a million years at least.

by/on bed = concern running off bed/cat tree = attention/follow by fridge, looking between the owner and the fridge = food it's not that special, it's quite basic but that's good because it's easy to understand. although meowing is only something that happens when the owner lacks the ability to read body language and/or ignores their body language. kittens are a pretty good example of this behavior, they meow when they are kittens mostly because they are blind (can't read body language if you can't see) (eyes are closed and even after they open, vision isn't great for a while). as their eyes open up and vision gets better, plus the time to learn body language they meow less and less, until they are mostly quite. mom cats will hiss or meow at their kittens to shut them up, mostly to keep them from being found and eaten by predators.

Mine talk to each other to know where they are. We moved from a tiny apartment to a big condo with 4 levels and they'd never find each other if not by meowing. I actually send messages to the hubby for the same reasons.

I’d be meowing and making noises back at them all day lol. Love this ❤.

I talk to my guy all the time. I have to tell him, "It's too early for your x time treat"!

Having had a vocal cat for 14 years until she passed on, I cant imagine life being any different. If I do get another cat, I sure hope it'll be a vocal and eccentric one. While at times it may make you feel like pulling your hair out, when you look back, these are the fondest memories of them.

Our previous cat was pretty vocal. He was also very snuggly and gave the best loves. Our new cat doesn't talk a whole lot and isn't cuddly at all. I do miss those things, but I love him to bits anyway.

@@chrismc410 ~ I was very good at understanding all my previous cats, but the one that just passed away a couple months ago, not so much. She would meow, but never walk to the fridge. She wouldn't walk to the door to go out on the patio. I can't tell you how many cans of food that went to waste! But, she was my baby girl, and I loved her! 🐈‍⬛😻🐾

I could listen to them chirp all day. It's such a soothing sound.

They both have the most precious meows. ☺️

Oh, it’s like my mom’s dear Zoe. She looked just like the first kitty and had those “purmeows” for us constantly. We miss her terribly but have so many good memories of that kitty voice.

They are... My "Tiger" spoke mostly when he thought domestic service was slacking ! He purred with joy if you pulled chicken breast, beef, or salmon out of the fridge. When offered dry food however, he made a long growling sound. Stared you down, deadly insulted. Then marched away to sulk in a corner. Love from Norway 😼👩‍🦳🇧🇻

All three of my boys can get vocal when they want food. Bobby basically screams his head off nonstop until he gets his wet food in the morning. Sparky can also get vocal when he wants food, whether it is wet or dry. As for Ringo, he loves dry food and can get vocal when I give them their dry food for dinner. If he goes at least most of the day without dry food because we have ran out and haven't gotten the chance to buy any, he will get hangry.

I love their vocalisations. It makes me miss my friend's grumpy old man cat. He used to yell at me a lot when I was at her house.

I learned they have several 1000 different vocalizations and they all mean different things. Amazing.

I luv to hear cats mew that much. Especially when somebody else's😊. They can be very vocal when and where they want something. In this case in the kitchen with empty bowls. I remember the fuss my cats would make in the mornings with me half asleep, filling their bowls, then back to bed. Only then all was quiet again👍.

Their cat food must be in that fridge! I have two cats, one very vocal. She expects the kitty litter to be cleaned after she uses it. Her sister just looks at the cat bowl, back at me, the bowl, until I get it. "Food, right." When the stainless steel water bowl is empty, it's really hard to tell. "I need something in it that floats, to know." The next morning there were three milk jug cap toys (the strip you pull off) in the water dish. What smart cats.

Astronauts are giving cats to play with right when the return from space, specifically trained for maximum cuddleness and tenderness it helps the transition, the meows and purring relaxes there bodies it's quite a shock to the body they say.

That brown tabby looks just like my Missy. She is a stray that adopted me 2 years ago and she's an outside cat and this evening she came inside on her own for the first time and sniffed around my house and looked around and I was talking to her and she was talking back. When she first got here she wouldn't let anyone get near her at all. She is such a sweet kitty.
