@@michael9085 Overall I’ve had a good experience, but it was fairly mixed when I arrived. The city has only just finished waking up from Covid, and the downtown area is still pretty empty and depressing. That being said, I ended up finding an apartment in the Mission district, and really enjoy the atmosphere here. It’s a beautiful city with a lot of interesting things going on. Good luck if you end up moving!

I lived there from 1988-1998 😊. I recently went back for a (divorced) family reunion for my son who was born there. (His French Algerian father and Minnesota Farm girl me pretty much pioneered “co-parenting”). Anyway, it felt like coming home. The time zone. The happy people. The laid back pace. The politically liberal minded people. The people the people the people. And the food & parks - Like you said!!!And the special SF only ‘s like the golden gate, coit tower, the neighborhoods, bart, the cable cars and the muni trolly things. The hills. Karl/Carl (we just said fog back in the 90s) Heck Even Alcatraz. I need to move back sooooo much. It’s home. And thank you for the tip about not calling it sanfran/frisco. I’ve definitely thought sanfran in my head. Now I know to say sf! Back in the 90’s we called it “the city”.

Recently went to SF and unfortunately got our rental car broken into at Alamo Square last Saturday. Was interested to see if you would mention if that got worse or not. I was there in the 90’s and went back for vacation/reunion 6 months ago. I was in Love. That old song “reunited” - that’s me and San Francisco. Why do you not like it? What bad thing did it become? Expensive rent/mortgage? Yes that is tough. They had great renters rights protections when I lived there. Rented 2bed 1bath Victorian flat for $700/mo and my very own cafe (Algiers Cafe - now the milk bean on post street close to Hyde) for $500/mo. When I left, my landlords were released from restrictions and got to triple and quadruple the rents for the new tenants.
