    A video about necklines for the body types would be extremely helpful! I'm a Soft Natural and in everything I wear the neckline is the deal breaker on whether the proportions are right or not. The softly open width in the shoulders and chests for Soft Naturals makes it really difficult to dress myself correctly. I'm on the smaller side so coming across strangely compact is an issue for me. My chest either appears too big or too small or my shoulders appear too wide or small compared to my slightly bigger head. Any guidance is appreciated! Love your videos🦋

    For me it took me like 3 videos because I'm over 6 feet so it was clear to me somehow that I must be a tall type. But I can see how it might be difficult. Sometimes people on reddit do a good job with typing, though in my personal opinion they have a tendency to see width in anyone and also to type a lot of people as a tall type. But a lot of times, they figure it out very well as a collective or at least narrow it down to a few types or give some new insights. I do also think that Aly has probably the best eye for this out of everyone I've seen so it would be amazing to be typed by her for sure.

When Aly uses the word "situation", you know she's talking about a phenomenon that contradicts the beauty standards. 😅 She avoids saying something negative that could hurt someone. Same! The subreddit especially has apparently decided that the ratio of the head to the body no longer matters because Kibbe said your clothes only drape over the body. I had to leave because it was so blatantly anti science - psychology has long established that we compare body proportions subconsciously to help us recognize people.

    This all makes sense, thank you so much! I'm 160 cm (5'3") and people realize I'm shorter just when they come next to me (omg you're so tiny, they say haha) but usually everyone think I am 170 (5'7") and I'm always surprised like wtf... My arms and legs looks longer than my torso and my head is smaller than my body. I thought just because I have a pear shape I should show my waist but looking at the pictures, it seems that I look shorter and puffy when I wear high waist trousers and skirts. This year I started to wear longer tops, more fluid, doing layers and I was so shocked when I saw that I actually look more feminine and elongated! I'm still learning of course but I'm understanding something at least 😍❤️✨

  • @Carrie-sgda

    @Carrie-sgda

    Жыл бұрын

    To shorten the legs you can wear a long top or a lower rise trouser/skirt mid to low rise depending on how much you want to shorten the legs. Judging by your height I would say mid rise bottoms and if you like to go down the longer top root nowhere longer than sitting on the hip. You can define the waist with a fitted top , a belt on the waist around a dress/coat. A top/ jacket cropped on the waist. You can use crop tops or jacket to layer over a longer top or " body"( that buttons up around the crotch)

    Excellent insight as always Aly! 👏🏻 👏🏻 The right neckline is always a challenge… as a DK per Kibbe I should favor v-necks, but I have a very long thin neck, small breasts, short torso, narrow bones, and v-neck look strange and not flattering on me at all. So I am intuitively drawn to crewnecks and turtlenecks. Also I feel that crewnecks in general provide that sharpness and modern youthfulness around the face. What would you say? The necklines dilemma is real 😅! The portrait zone is so impactful on how people perceive us… Would love to see a video about that. ❤️

    I know that Kibbe doesn't talk about pure types any more, but I now prefer to think of a line of continuum between a pure type and a subtype rather than hard-and-fast categories. Some people do seem to be only half a centimeter on one side of the line than the other, so maybe that's why Kibbe classifies them as subtypes anyway. I never could make his system work until I typed myself as a pure Natural leaning ever so slightly into FN and then combined it with John Kitchener's essence system for the details. That was a complete game changer for me.

    It's not just legs versus torso; the body has three parts: neck to waist, waist to groin; groin to ankles or floor. A person can have long legs judged from the waist to the floor, but short legs judged from the groin to the floor. In that case, she has a short inseam but a long rise.

    I have completely stopped worrying about height or eye or lip shape in understanding the Kibbe system for some of the reasons mentioned in this video. Just taking a graph like the one at the beginning of this vid, then putting it next to the same size photo of a body should be a good help when deciphering the Kibbe described proportions for the types. But then, I still think that just matching all proportions and colors to your own in an outfit will work. Ex: bold print no bigger than your head, colors no darker than your darkest tone on your body.

    I have long torso; small hips, butt and chest; big shoulders, long neck and long head (oblong type). Basically, pencil type except the big shoulders, or it makes it reversed triangle? I'm also super skinny, tomboyish and I don't wear very elegant stuff (and it looks very unnatural on me). But it's so hard for me to find clothes that fit my body (both vibe wise and esp body type wise), cus nothing really does. All the pants are too low for me, even if they are high waisted they still don't reach my waist. Out of all my lack in proportions this is the one that annoys me the most 😪😪 And if I wear something something that I feel okay with, like a simple shirt and and high waisted checkered pants, it still gives off somehow childish look, even tho for other people wearing the same style they look more mature and styled? Do you have any advice what to wear pls 😔😔 PS My height is 1.70 if it helps.

    I feel like I’m somewhere in this category but I still don’t know for sure . I’m trying to make this part of my job Too it’s really hard ! I have a longer version of your face but close set eyes , and a short neck . You can see In my picture I look decent in high necks . I am 5 ft 4 , my shoulders are more narrow than my hips , my waist is small and high . I used to be very very heavy tho so my body might not be what it really is bone structure wise. I’m not sure . I have heavy inner thighs , long legs and arms . I look good In cropped shirts but I wear usually a white shirt underneath since my stomach has stretch marks lol. I don’t look good In wide leg pants , I look good In flares but they’re always too long and the short flares look weird ! Capris look nice on me but they have to be mid calf and tight on my leg . I look better in high waist than midrise jeans , unless they’re capris . Capris I wear midrise . I look better In tops that go around my neck than tops that have regular straps . Im a size 8 shoe I am 138 lbs . I have big ankles , I hate them lol . I have no clue if im gamine or natural flamboyant oh geez im lost im probably wrong about it all lol. Im a 36B bra . Lol somebody help me! Lolol

    I believe I am a soft gamine at 5'1" but I have average proportions and I gain weight in the middle with very little weight gain in my hips/legs ever. Originally I believed myself to be soft classic but I think my height and my more childlike facial features lean me more toward gamine. When I was younger mixie cut and short bob looked great on me but as I am aging it feels a little too childish and my double chin in more prominent now so I prefer slightly longer even though my hair is very fine. I actually think a blunt cut like yours might look nice since I have a wider heart shaped face. I am new here what type are you?

    @@ambrusin4889 she said she though at first she was Theatrical Romantic or Soft Gamine. She mantained for a longer period of time she was Soft Gamine, but she claimed some time ago she was not. Olga Brylińska claims Aly is Theatrical Romantic with French and Luminous Ethereals. That means she is TR with Gamine/Soft Gamine influence. That also means French chic style fits her and she has some Ethereal essence. I personally think she may also have Alabaster, Fairytale, Fairytale Retro, Crimson (Dramatic undercurrent, in other words) and Rose Ethereal. Alabaster and Rose Ethereals refer to doll-like faces. Alabaster doll is cold, perfect, distant and a bit Noble. Rose doll is warm and approachable. These two Ethereals often go together. Aly has doll-like features, close to Soft Gamine, but her body represents TR type. Fairytale Ethereal is inspiring, extravagant and related to Gamine group. This Ethereal previously was related with Dark Autumn colouring. It represents fairtyle world, and forests. Fairytale Retro Ethereal is related to retro type of beauty and is both Soft Gamine and Theatrical Romantic style essences. Crimson is related to Dramatic style, Noble element and Dramatic undercurrent in TR type. It is also described as "intense, dangerous", dark, gothic. Theatrical Romantic with Crimson and Fairytale Retro Ethereals represents model "femme fatale" chic. I wonder whether Aly would agree with her typing and my suggestions.

    Hey Aly! I wanted to ask something. Here in India, the average height of women is on the shorter side. So, can we not have any dramatic or a FN among us women?Is it necessary that majority of the women here have to either be of Romantic or Gamine types? or Soft Naturals at the most?

  • @tatemitchell1479

    @tatemitchell1479

    I’m not Aly, but I’ll try to answer anyways: I would imagine yang-dominant types are much less common, but since you say height is overall shorter, I would think that it would depend more on vertical line - that is to say, how tall somebody looks. For example, I am a romantic, so I tend to look slightly shorter than my real height of 5’4”. Most people think I’m around 5’3”, sometimes even 5’2”. If the total population is shorter you would have to rely on this measurement. So in the same way, if someone looks taller than they really are, for example a 5’2” woman that “appears” to be 5’4” or taller, she’s probably yang-dominant and you can continue typing from there. So while you can call a shorter woman yang-dominant, they are probably still less common among shorter populations. Sorry if I over-explained, I’m not sure how much you’ve read into this and I wanted to make myself super clear 🥰 Best of luck!

    I've seen people saying (mainly on the Kibbe subreddit that follows Strictly Kibbe guidelines) that the types don't have lower limits, just upper limits. So if that's true, you could have short Dramatics and short Flamboyant Naturals and Soft Dramatics, but no tall Romantics or tall Soft Gamines. I think it could make sense since you get a lot of yang at shorter heights like Dramatic Classic, Flamboyant Gamine etc. But I agree with the other comments that mentioned that in the absence of a taller height, the vertical line should be a focal point as well. I also live in a country with shorter average height for women, Brazil (160 cm, 5'2'') but I ruled out SN and TR because I'm tall even for Kibbe standards (176 cm, 5'9''), and through trial and error, I felt at home in Soft Dramatic lines. But even though I'm open to the idea of short Dramatics I'm not sure why they couldn't be classified as a Flamboyant Gamine. Maybe because they lack yin facial features? Even if a short Dramatic was short they wouldn't look 'boyish/playful'? That's a really interesting discussion!

  • @ellixrose2650

    @ellixrose2650

    Also, in countries with a tall average height, do we have predominantly Yang types there? If there are no lower height limits for being a Yang type but there are upper height limits for being a Yin type, that'd mean that in countries where ppl are shorter there'd still be a lot of Yang types but in those where ppl are taller there'd be very few Yin types. Idk it's weird to me, the height limit in only one direction in general.

  • @shironerisilk

    @shironerisilk

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ellixrose2650 Yeah, I'm not compleeetely sold out in this theory I brought up as well, having learned about this info pretty recently, but I guess it's in line with the Kibbe idea that vertical line adds ''inescapable'' Yang to your type because above a certain height you can't offset your vertical line with width and/or curves. So I guess that countries with taller women like, idk, the Netherlands, would indeed skew more heavily to SD/FN/D. But I'd guess that there are a lot more countries with shorter people in the world rather than countries with ''standard tall'' (I'd suppose over 5'7''/170 cm), so tall-Yang countries would be rarer, if this theory they say is correct.
