What is Yixing Zi Sha, Chaoshan Zhu Ni, Jianshui Zi Tao? How to reset teapots | ZhenTea

Yixing clay teapot is a great tool for making gongfu tea, such as oolong tea, black tea, or Pu'er tea. But there is so much stuff to learn about Yixing Zisha (purple clay) teapots, which actually makes it daunting when it comes to choosing your very first teapot. Besides Yixing purple clay teapot, there are also other choices, such as Jianshui purple clay (zi tao) teapot or Chaozhou red clay (zhu ni) teapot. Are they the same thing? If not, what's the difference between these various clays. But don't get too obsessed with their difference, in the end, choosing a brewing vessel is a very personal thing, you are the boss of your own teapot.
Also, did you ever want to reset a teapot? Maybe you want to switch the tea you used this teapot for, maybe the teapot is slightly stained, or maybe the teapot developed an odor. Either way here is some tips on how to reset a teapot.

    on my personal experience having both Yixing and Zhuni, I observed that Yixing is porous, lighter and retains heat better and has a hollow sound when hit… while Zhuni, which I personally like, is finer and has a metal like sound when hit with its lid.

    Do people actually fire their pots once again just to get rid of the history of a pot? This sounds such extreme!

    Can you please suggest which tea types are better brewed in an Yixing vs. Jiangshui? Xiexie!

    I have heard of people adding baking soda to the boiling water when resetting the teapot especially if there’s a stain. I wonder if this might remove more odor from the pot compared to just using regular water.
