I know this is late but another BIG ship moment for Kai and Cole was during coles dad arc. When Cole is shown to be ok all the ninjas are happy, but Kai has the biggest reaction. My mans literally runs up to Cole and nuzzles his chest. Jay even nudges coles shoulder and gives a wink and a nod while this happens. So yea the breadcrumbs have always been there, but they’ve gotten much more frequent as of late. One things for sure tho if they ever become canon it will be a joyous day. I also think skailor sucks majorly, not bc I hate skylor I just like them better as friends.

This is my new favourite headcanon (sure do hope it becomes canon) because lava duo is a huge comfort to me. I never saw Kai and Skylor as a romantic duo, they always had a kind of friendzone vibe. And Cole never had any interest In anybody or showed interest in anybody, but then there are these hints towards Kai which would make sense because he is the only one that never had a femal "interest" canonical (no vernia doesn't count he clearly didn't like her romantically)

And the brothers thing can be interpreted in different ways, you can't know for sure unless officially announced that there is no romance between any of them. They are all very very close so if a relationship happens it's no fucking surprise

One of the things I like about Ninjago is the subtlety on the relationships. I think they could honestly gradually grow this relationship and make a thing.

Even if Lava isn't canon in the show, it'll be canon in some other alternate universe- I love Lava, but even if it doesn't become canon, I'll still keep it in mind :D

Why? Cole doesn't seem to like anyone. My guess. So it's not possible without trust. He was very young when he lost his mother. His father forced him to enroll in dance school, as if mocking him. How can you expect a child who has gone through this to truly trust someone?

I think the first two clues at the beginning of this ship are: 1.- The chapter 9 of the first season "the royal blacksmiths", in the part where cole finishes doing the triple jump of the tiger and kai throws himself to embrace him. 2.- Chapter 9 of season 7 "the hands of time", when nya and kai disappear in the time bortex, everyone says their names: Ray and Maya: children Jay: nya! Cole: Kay! where did they go? Pd: Sorry if I got something wrong, English is not my first language.

Could pushing this one but- (spoiler warning just in case) Kai stayed behind with Cole or rather Cole stayed behind with Kai in season 15. Now, we know Kai has a fear of the water and given that he has fire powers too it wouldn't have worked but- nothing was holding Cole back from going with the rest of the ninja which either means he wanted to stay behind with Kai to keep him company or- another reason that just hasn't been said

Ok this Is a wild theory so don't take it to seriously but,: Perhaps because Zane is a Nindroit, he doesn't understand Non-straight /Gay relationships ( eventho he does have and understand feelings), we never saw him react to other couples in the show (at least I can't remember sorry) so perhaps he doesn't really notice/understand romantic relationships when they are happening to other people/characters in the show. Especially since Cole and Kai have been friends this whole time and aren't really obvious about the whole " there could be something more than a friendship thing" around other people . (Tbh this theory is really wild sorry for rambling so much, idk it just seams like a fun little theory that came to mind rn so don't take it serious)

And yea fun fact on the back of Sally's van she has a pride flag and in ninjago city there's a ton of rainbow crosses

4:03 they're holding hands. The small second or two after where the camera pans out, they're obviously holding hands. It's a blink-and-miss-it scene though probably bc of censorship but still- trust me I slowed it down to 0.25 speed. It's worth it. Edit: The royal blacksmiths. Season 1 episode 9. At the end, Kai ran up and hugged Cole, waist down. Already pretty suspicious. Then, Cole looks really confused as Jay walks up to the two and looks down at Kai. Jay then looks back up at Cole, nudges him and winks. In a sort of "You're oblivious" way. And then Kai looks up and frantically looks around, realising that there are hundreds of people who just watched that. The Movie: I know this doesnt tie into the series but still. At one point, Jay leans over Kai, leaning on his back. Cole is in the background holding his left arm in a kind of nervous way. He also had an upset look on his face and was looking away from Kai and Jay. He had no need to do this as Jay was just being friendly towards Kai. But he still did? And another moment, Jay grabs Kai's shoulder in a nervous way,because they're literally talking to Garmadon and in the movie Jay is presented as nervous. Cole looks at them and as soon as Kai looks behind and looks at Cole, Cole moves his head slightly down and averts his eyes. No longer wanting to look at Kai. Yet again, a really upset face. Before he looked away though, he had a pretty jealous look on his face. Another Movie scene [The movie had so many scenes-], Cole carries Kai and even after Kai mentioning that he could've walked himself, Cole still carried him until they got to the group. If anyone has any more scenes they want me to over analyse just ask 🕺💃 [I'll need season name and episode name though becuase I'm using the google drive]

I totally agree! Especially with just the newly released Virtues of Spinjitzu shorts, there is ton of the "Kai + Cole" moments, like you had said that is very odd they keep it between just the two of them. Canon or not, I love that they've been having more interactions! I feel like early ninjago it was very hard to pinpoint what their relationship in their team was.

Another thing is cole is very heavily queer coded. The whole royal blacksmiths episode and his storyline in season one with his dad disapproving and not knowing he a ninja. Just replace dancing with being gay. Kia is less shown to be queer coded but cole is very out their with how queer coded he is. They may not make the ship cannon soon but I wouldn't be surprised if they test the waters with cole coming out and maybe a side arc about that, with him telling the team and then his father.

If I'm gonna be honest, it just makes sense. Especially the picture. They got pixane: Officially cannon, They've got Jaya: the "Main ship" in the series so definitely cannon, single Pringle lloyd in the middle, and then COLE AND KAI. + I feel like if these were different people, in a different show, (maybe not gay cause not all creators are cool with that kinda stuff) who shared the same affection, they'd probably be together by now. Although, I can say the same thing with bruise.

Animators literally give the physical signs like "i was about to get closer but i did't" things or jealousy or worry so good (in general) for this animation style and nothing can change my mind :D

Dude this is amazing cause like I love the two characters so much and I love lava too- they’re both so fruity, and Cole and Kai do have more chemistry than kailor, and not to mention, buuttt coles speech about being a ninja to his dad is like a metaphor, or speech for someone coming out, and sad in coles side his father didn’t support his sexuali- dream job- yes..

I’ve been rewatching the whole show and I gotta say, you are completely right. They’ve been spending so much time together and the parallels between the other ships can’t be ignored. If they do something with Cole and Kai in the near future, I’ll be truly happy for the representation. Also yes, the two dragon hunter ladies are 100% a thing, you cannot change my mind.

As well in Crystalized when Kai & Cole were paired together again, Kai also protecting Cole during that time.

Crystalized update: the scene where they hid behind a dumpster... 😳😳😳 how can they make Kai ask Skylor to make their relationship official just a few episodes later? Like, why make a scene this obviously gay and then do that. Still can't comprehend that

Some things I noticed throughout the series is in crystallized when they were running from the collapsing tunnel Kai tripped and fell twice and Cole helped him up both times. Also before that when they were fighting the mechanic (in the tunnels) Cole got thrown backwards and Kai leaped up to catch him to make sure he didn’t get hurt. I personally really love this ship, I think it has so much more chemistry than Kailor or whatever Cole x Vania is, I really hope it becomes cannon in the newer episodes. Thank you for your time peoples.

They definitely had a crush on each other in early seasons but when they start getting really pushed they started dating. No one can tell me otherwise

I hope Im not the only one that noticed, but at 7:08, in the photo, you can see what looks to be cole slightly holding onto or resting his hand onto kais back as well cause of the arm position Also, This one wasnt in the vid, but in the season *Sons of Garmadon* in one of the eps in which cole and zane were undercover, the other ninja find them and see that cole is gonna start singing, i noticed that all of them either grimaced or had blank stares whilst kai was the only one of them that was actually smiling and had what I call "happy eyes" iykwim ofc Another one was when cole suggested they ask for Queen/princess Vanias' help with doing smth or finding someone and kai was right behind him and the second cole mentioned vania kai turned away, looked down and had what i could only describe as eather jealousy, anger, or both. Dont ask me for the season or ep cause i cant remember that shit ta safe the life of me lmfao

The over-analyzing thing: Movie and show writers do this all the time, they make things very subtle. Small things here and there over a longer period of time, some people won't think much of it because it's a reocurring thing happening. while others look more into it, and adds all the small moments togehter which eventually makes it a big deal. Idk how to describe this really, but movie and show writers don't make things too obvious all the time (either because they're scared of how their audience will react, or because they want to make it more realistic). Scared, becasue there's people who are homophobic (In this case, because shipping) and realistic, because relationship builds over time and people aren't always so affecionate around others and such

Well after that Kailor stuff in crystallized....yeah no still team lava So many small lava moments in the season along with some stuff right before Kailor And then with Kailor idek what they are doing with that ship Like they flirt in the background, then Kai asks them to be official (albeit the worst way) and it's a "No, let's talk later" and we don't see them talk! Just more flirting in the background! Kailor is just...so awkward and the writing for it is so bad. Love it in season 4 but omg they dropped the ball after that. They've added a LGBTQ+ Character I to the show ( Sally, season 16) and they were hinting more lava shipping moments. If Lego allows a LGBTQ+ character, we might be getting closer towards a LGBTQ+ ship. Also, in a tweet someone asked about having a LGBTQ+ ship. They replied with something along these lines: " Who knows, maybe we'll have some new OR old LGBTQ+ characters"
