What is this THING!? 1973 Volkswagen “THING” | Snohomish Car Show

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

There were so many awesome classics at the Snohomish Car Show in Washington state, but one THING stood out to us. Known to the rest of the world as a VW Safari, this ’73 THING is a serious romper. With removable roof, doors, side curtains, and windshield it’s a fun open-air vintage ride. Then Dennis finds a really cool 1930 Mercury Roadster Pickup with all the classic hot rod touches, and a Merc’d-out Ford 347 Stroker motor. Next up, one of the greatest grocery-getters of all time; a 1968 Ford Country Squire LTD Wagon. This wood-paneled behemoth is a pretty rare find, especially with the original 428 Thunderbird V8. We also found a beautifully restored 1938 Oldsmobile Touring Sedan, hiding a dressed up ’77 403 Olds engine. What a classy hot rod! Dennis finishes it off with a little-bitty family car that you might only ever see in this show. This rare 1966 Triumph Sports 1200 convertible is almost completely original, and so is its “whopping” 1147cc engine.
The only thing better than a trip to the Pacific North West is traveling there for a car show! The Snohomosh Car Show was such a blast - you’re going to enjoy this episode.

I can't wait till this virus madness is over and we can get together and have fun with cars again! I'm sure there are people who are still doing it now, but I value the lives of others too much to take the chance

I dig that the '68 LTD 428 Wagon had the air cleaner lid flipped for better airflow. I did the same on my '69 428 Torino Cobra.

I love quirky cars but VW Things were death traps . Slow , with a wooden removable floor and not one crumple zone that would save you on impact . They were bad cars for highway driving for sure .

That 38 Olds is awesome. Car styling has gone downhill since the 70's. The 80's had some okay boxy styles, the 90's looked like they took the 80's vehicles and just rounded all the corners. And after that, all cars look like jellybeans. They have no style. The only way to tell cars apart is from the grilles. And they're all ugly. And don't even get me started on crossovers....
