ikr, had to check the date, all of this is so passé that its borderline cringe.
This wasnt a very good interview.
Did I just return to 2004? Decora is back?
whats with the random ai generated cat at 2:24?

That's definitely what it looked like to me. I hope it wasn't actually AI, but it sure looked like it.
An art show apparently displaying stolen art (AI - referring to the "cat") and a piece where it's a bunch of pre-bought (copywritten character) stuffies stuck to a wall is uncomfortable at best. Them refusing to use the word "kawaii" throughout and also not even acknowledging Japanese influence while clearly wearing and talking about Japanese inspired fashions is..... honestly mega ick. Erasure is the word I am looking for. Cultural erasure and appropriation.

We shouldn't be surprised all from this. The women he interviewed were clearly into decora style and didn't mention their influences at all.
I appreciate how respectful and kind the interviewer is being in this video, especially considering how cuteness and anything coded as “girly” has been derided for decades by those who consider themselves to be the arbiters of high culture and “serious” art. Cuteness is valid in art and everywhere else 🎀
Early 2000's Japanese alternative fashion isn't "new"... LOL
Omg Hanna diamonds music is actually amazing
The intro was interesting and I was expecting someone that AT LEAST knows their inspirations and intentions of "their" art (which I doubt very much it's autoral since even AI crap is displayed in a non-critique way) Kawaii already exists and there's plenty artists and musicians creating new stuff, showing their own perspective, while not erasing other artists and culture. But Art (with capitol A) is judged real by the wealthy, so what's pleasing to their palate goes.
fucking christ normally I wouldn't make comments like this but there are very good reasons people like cute things. It's dopamine, but the popularity has been cemented by certain styles (Kawaii/Decora Lolita, which these women clearly ascribe to without YOU mentioning it somehow) and the hypebeast, vinyl figurine stuff is pushing toys and cuteness pretty consistently. Why is there awful AI art in this exhibit? Is this some kind of critique/concept where everything in the show is just stolen from another culture or concept?
