I’m from Centralia and played basketball there. My team got second at State in 2012. The Orphans are the winningest high school basketball team in the country. Their name came from them going to a tournament in the early 1900s and their jerseys looked so bad that people said they looked like orphans. A sportswriter put this in the paper and the name just stuck haha. Also, the girls are called the Orphan Annie’s 😂. The school won a competition similar to what yall are doing back in 2013 for “ Most unusual mascot”
