In an interview with Sheik Halis (Abu Hanzala), the questions of what is the place of the Sunnah in religion, what is bida, what should be the perspective of sunnah?
Sunnah is one of the principles of religion for us. Because when we enter Islam, we say 'la ilaha illallah Muhammedun Rasulullah'. We say that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the messenger of Allah.
This means that:
So we learn our religion from him. We say that it is him who explains with what Allah is pleased and what he is angry about. So Sunnah means religion.
Naturally, Sunnah means half of the religion remaining after the Quran. When you look at the Qur'an, which is the word of Allah, this truth is clearly seen.
For example, Allah (ac) tells us in the Quran:
"Obey Allah and obey the Messenger." He says.
“If you disagree on anything, turn it to Allah and His Messenger. If you believe in Allah and the Last Day. ” (4 / Nisa, 59)
Direct to Allah means direct to the book of Allah. Direct to the Prophet is to direct to him, after he passed away, to his remaining sunnah, and this is not a luxury, this is not a choice.
Allah (azwj) says: "If you believe in Allah and the Last Day, take the matters you fight to the Messenger." (4 / Nisa, 59)
Why?
Because to Allah, there is no difference between obedience to Allah and obedience to the prophet.
“Whoever obeys the Messenger, undoubtedly obeys Allah. Whoever turned away, we did not send you a protector on them. ” (4 / Nisa, 80)
What is the place of Sunnah in religion regarding the judgment?
So our Lord says in the Surah Ahzab that:
"When Allah and His Messenger decide on something, believing men and women have no right to choose." (33 / Ahzab, 36)
Allah does not say only when Allah decides(azwj). When Allah and His Messenger decide.
If someone doesn't believe in this, that one cannot be a muslim. Because Allah (azwj) says:
"But no, by the Lord, they can have no (real) Faith, until they make thee judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against Thy decisions, but accept them with the fullest conviction. ” (4 / Nisa, 65)
"May those who oppose the command of that prophet be afraid that with a mischief or a painful punishment will touch them." (24 / Nur, 63) says our Lord (azwj).
So then:
1. Allah ordered obedience to the Prophet.
2. He accepted the applying to the Sunnah of the Prophet in the conflict as
the principle of faith
3. Obedience to the prophet is Obedience to Allah.
4. Opposition to the Prophet is Opposition to Allah.
As such, this shows us the importance of Sunnah.
When you remove the Sunnah and the Prophet, the only place it will take you is heresy.
What is bida?
Bidada means innovation. It means that something unprecedented, emerged as new.
What is what we call bida in religion? It means that people start an application that is not included in the Qur'an and sunnah.
The Prophet (pbuh) says:
“All bidads are heresy and all heresy are on fire. Whoever takes something that we do not do in our religion as innovation is rejected, it is invalid. ”
In another word of hadith;
"Who performs a deed, if deed is not for our deed, that deed is rejected."
In order for an action to be accepted according to Allah, it needs two conditions.
1. It should be done only for Allah
2. When it is done, it should be in accordance with the sunnah of the Prophet.
