The AI pathfinding will see an open space in the same location and when the opening is obstructed they'll find another route, by that time the piston contracts and the AI will see that 2 block opening as the shortest route. The AI can't remember or detect a pattern. A piston, like any other blocs is a barrier to a villager, and air (nothing) makes the path shorter. Mobs will see trapdoors and fence as full blocks even though they are not to us human players.

McD: - Create a village from the ground up till it has a population of 15 or more (depends on what the Computer can handle) - Then defend said village from a pillager raid with the 1-2 Iron Golems and Weapons of your choice. Only 3 deaths in total. (triggering a raid with the bad omen trait)

McD: Find a skeleton, and fence it up. Build your base around the skeleton when you do build a base. You cannot kill the skeleton or incapacitate it in any way, and you can't block it off. The fences must only be 1 (one) fence tall, no more and no less. You must have one skeleton per floor of your base, each in the center of the room/area, they all must be able to aim and hit you at any given time when you're in the base. This applies to all bases, and a "base" is defined as any space which contains at least 1 (one) of the following items: -Enchanting Table -Chest (of any variation, including the Barrel and Double Chest) -Crafting Bench (of any variation, including the Stonecutter, Smithing Table, Cartography Table, and the Fletching Table. Any future variations of the Crafting Bench also apply.) -Furnace (of any variation, including the Smoker, Blast Furnace, and Minecart Furnace) -Door (of any variation, also includes Trap Doors) -Anvil A "base" can also be defined as any player-built premises that is designed with at least some intent of keeping either the player in, or keeping hostile entities out, however it's primarily defined as any premises the player stays in or intends to stay in, temporarily (at minimum 3 (three) minutes real time, also including if you only intend to stay there to gather resources), or permanently, (at minimum 2 Minecraft days). If you only plan on using the base temporarily (specifically to gather resources), you are only required to find a skeleton if one is immediately available. If you find an area with a large skeleton population (dungeons with skeleton spawners, caves at the correct light level, etc.), it's recommended that you lead them into a fenced off area and mark that spot, in which case, the previous condition no longer applies and you must find exactly 1 (one) skeleton to be permanently in this temporary base.
