Brand names/logos are trademarked, not patented. Govt. Fee for individuals/MSMEs is 4500. Professional fee varies from company to company.

You can apply for a patent application for your research work/invention, either on your name as the Applicant, or on your educational institute's name as Applicant and you as Inventor - depending on your requirement.

Is examination automatic in US?

Yes, US govt. filing fees includes examination fees as well.

Examination means examination of Patent by Patent office that is it eligible for registration/grant or not.

@@DrPrachiChopra that means it is possible that the patent can be rejected at later stages. If yes, will the registration fees be refunded, or we can apply for some other different patent under the same registration fees if not refunded?
