What is the difference between UX, UI, product, visual, graphic, interaction design?

For the sake of making my videos short and bite-sized, I didn’t go too much into detail explaining each type of design. I’m planning to make separate videos for them so shoot me your questions :)

I’ve always understood UI as just a facet of UX. User Experience to me, is an umbrella term that covers a few main pillars: Research, Architecture, and Interface. A UX Designer should understand each of these facets and be able to execute on them to the best of their abilities. Then I would lean on specialists to perform deeper dives into the three specific pillars. UX Researchers for more behavioral sciences, architects with more back end and system creation experience, and UI designers for strong visual principal backgrounds.

Interaction is how you interact with a product. Comment the video, share, like, donate is interactions, time stamp etc. KZread can add mark for others function or tag for others. So you can draw with marker on the video and tag different parts of it. Later someone can access those markups and tags in the added features. This creates new Interface UI. And creates new experience UX So the interaction is the foundation of any design. IxD comes first and second comes Ui with Ux. Last stage is visual design

Hi there!!! Good video, but what I would really like to see, is the real work that a UX or UI designer does, like, real hands-on, would that be possible to have a better 'view' of the actual work? Meaning, there's so many definitions and words, but no real image in my mind of the real thing! Do we need coding? If I'm very creative, thoughtful, and interested in human psychology is that enough or I need maths or 'horrible coding'!;))? A video of an immersed workday, on a platform or of your portfolio explained, would be amazing!! Thanks again for your involvement!! S.

A really great exercise is taking an app or website that you use regularly and start asking questions about it. What’s frustrating about using it? Is there any info you’d make more available? How does it compare to similar apps? What do you love about it? etc. How would you address those questions? Figure out the ideal way you’d get to a certain screen or outcome. If you want to start playing around with software I highly recommend Figma because it’s free and browser based (they have a desktop app for mac, but it works fine online too) and has pretty much everything you need for UX and web design. Try recreating designs from apps, web, pinterest, wherever (but don’t post those recreations online or turn them in for a portfolio or class without giving credit to the original and highlighting the changes you made. it’s great to learn technique by copying, but you should never take credit for concepts that you didn’t come up with). Good luck! The best way to see if you like it is to just dive in

Now you probably have questions like what is uiux Designer then? Because they do the same job as product designer but it's not the case product designers are think about entire product lioe end to end cycle they also study about the market where they launch thier product and sometimes they also study the expected revenue model i telling this here because in indian start-ups they give you more salary for this role so don't just say you are product designer with 2 years of design experience because they will kick your ass if you're not able to fulfill there expectations 😭. Its ok don't cry you are still a good designer

All the research and ideation behind the concept of a product/service (apps, website etc) is a job for a UX designer. They design the experience. However, the one who brings ideas to life by creating the interface (for example look and feel of the app, designing the elements and colors etc, motions included) is what a UI designer does. They don't have to know coding but it definitely helps to communicate with those who do

hmmm i kind of disagree though, cuz to me product design is really just designing products like furniture, home appliances, even cars etc. Not so much of the user interface or experience part. At least the PD degrees for Bachelors and Masters in many countries focus on designing physical objects first, then we consider if there is gonna be an app that pairs along with it

Product design is actually industrial design... I'm an industrial designer (10 years) who now does UX and UI as well. Traditionally for years before UX design was a field in its own, a product designer was a known as an industrial designer. UX is actually a field that was derived as a subset of industrial design. Today the term product designer has been coined with a UX designer who also does the visual/ui design; but historically a product designer meant you're an industrial designer because industrial are the one's who really design a product from beginning to end, but today they work mainly on physical products

  • @lonewolf3564

@@user-ng9dr1sk1p what are you talking about? Do you know how to read? I have been a professional industrial designer for over 10 years and I also do UX/Ui, do you even know what industrial design is? Industrial design was called product design because we design physical products, there is a organization called IDSA go look it up. Industrial designers make physical products and we created the concept of doing user testing to verify that our designs actually worked. You clearly don't know what UX design is because you think it's only wire frames. UX involves much more like user testing and that is part of industrial design and taught in industrial design schools. If you didn't go to industrial design School how the hell do you know? Try reading about the history of ux. If you Google are industrial designers product designers and do they do user testing, see what the answer says answer. If you knew anything about industrial design youd know that It's more than just drawing cool sketches. We have to know manufacturing processes, and CAD and we have to make physical prototypes and test those with users. We have to understand visual design anytime a physical product has an interface. Not one thing you said was correct nor do you understand the various fields of design or what is taught in those curriculums. Maybe instead of talking out of your ass do a little research.

UX and UI designer is just isolation of duties of the behavioral part of the customer experience. This is just giving the frosting of the cake to someone else while the hard work is baking the cake. UX and UI are just the critiquers and exist in bigger companies. If you have a medium to small size company an UX and UI cant get you anything because they are not the doers. back in the day all these were done by the actual doers. Thats is why it is way easier for a coder, a designer, a developer or a marketer to pick up UX or UI in a few months than the other way around. However, try teaching a UX or UI designer to be a full stack or front end developer... good luck. I know peers that in less than 6 months (more like 3) became UX and UI... you cannot master software development nor graphic design anywhere near that time. To be a marketer or project manager you need yrs in school.

Can someone get a job in UX with an interaction design degree? I’m also doing a minor in studio art with it.

Visual designer focuses on digital product design while graphic also design physical goods so they’re different. Visual design is part of the UX process that are more specialized
