    I love the Book of Morman. The explanation of the Book of Mormon in the video clip is clear, concise and very useful. I have found the Book of Mormon to be full of great treasures of truth. I have incorporated the teachings of the Book of Mormon into my life and have found each teaching to be true. I can honestly say that I put them to the test of real life. As an added bonus, following Christ through his teachings found in the Book of Mormon has brought me a deep inner peace and profound joy.

    @@shelja3993 Dear brother, as recorded in the book of the Acts of the Apostles found in the "New Testament" ("new" because it was an addition to the "old"), the Gift of the Holy Spirit does not come through prayer alone: "And when Simon saw that through the Laying on of the Apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money" (Acts 8: 18). I testify that a man must be called of God to act in his name, for "...no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron" (Hebrews 5:4). The Book of Mormon helps teach this important doctrine as it states, "The manner which the disciples, who were called the elders of the church, ordained priests and teachers- After they had prayed unto the Father in the name of Christ, they laid their hands upon them, and said: In the name of Jesus Christ I ordain you to be a priest (or if he be a teacher, I ordain you to be a teacher) to preach repentance and remission of sins through Jesus Christ, by the endurance of faith on his name to the end. Amen. And after this manner did they ordain priests and teachers, according to the gifts and callings of God unto men; and they ordained them by the power of the Holy Ghost, which was in them." (Moroni 3: 1-4) I invite you to read the Book of Mormon, for in it you will find no conflicting teachings of the Doctrine of Christ and His Gospel.

    I was twenty-one when I heard the story of Christ in America and found out the Indians or Laminates were some of the "Other sheep" spoken of in the Bible. I had always wondered where,"the other sheep who were not of this fold," were. I have read the Book o Mormon many times and tried to live by the precepts taught in it; for these are the same precepts taught in the Bible. The book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is the Stick of Joseph spoken of in Ezekiel chapter 37 verses 15-19.The Book of Mormon explains the Truths taught in the Bible in plain and simple terms . It reiterates the Teachings of Christ and will led anyone who will read it with and open mind and heart to the Savior and give them peace, understanding, and faith. I am now sixty-two and each time I read the book I get greater insight into the ways of the Lord and his son Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

    DNA proves that the Indians are of Asian blood. And that they migrated from North America to South America. There was no DNA evidence when Joseph Smith wrote the book of mormon so he couldn't have known that, but it is proven wrong. No one thought people wrote on medal plates and then boom it's discovered that people actually did keep record on metal plates. I guess people can say that "oh the uneducated farm boy Joseph Smith just guessed all of ancient American history right" but Idk to me it just fits that something else was going on

    The book of Revelations was written by John, it is a question of how to interpret this scripture, add to the book of Revelation or add to the bible? The book of Revelation is the last book included in the bible but it was not the last in chronological order, to say if nothing should be added then how could there have been any more words included in the bible. Does this mean that God is dead or that he does not speak to prophets anymore ever since the book of revelation was written? I don't believe that God changes, for him to change and stop giving any more word doesn't make since to me. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Thus God may continue to give words, possibly words we don't have, He is the source of all truth, so what was meant by Rev 22:18? It could mean that there can be no taking away from or adding to the book of Revelations which is very important scripture. Yet there were words taken from the bible itself, there are many different translations and just like the Council of Nicaea decided on the Trinity. Man's interpretation again of who is God. I believe the bible is the word of God, as long as it is translated correctly. Ezekial 37: 15-19 - Stick of Judah= Bible, Stick of Ephriam = Book of Mormon

    This is the list provided by the Lord's true prophet on the earth today. The Book of Mormon is: Another testament of Jesus Christ. Its major writers-Nephi, Jacob, Mormon, Moroni-and its translator, Joseph Smith, were all eyewitnesses of the Lord. A record of Christ's ministry to people who lived in ancient America. True, as attested by the Lord Himself. The Book of Mormon affirms: The individual identity of Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. The necessity of the Fall of Adam and the wisdom of Eve, that men might have joy. The Book of Mormon refutes notions that: Revelation ended with the Bible. Infants need to be baptized. Happiness can be found in wickedness. Individual goodness is adequate for exaltation (ordinances and covenants are needed). The Fall of Adam tainted mankind with “original sin.” The Book of Mormon fulfills biblical prophecies that: “Other sheep” shall hear His voice. God will do “a marvelous work and a wonder,” speaking “out of the dust.” The “stick of Judah” and the “stick of Joseph” will become one. Scattered Israel will be gathered “in the latter days” and how that will be done. The land of inheritance for the lineage of Joseph is the Western Hemisphere. The Book of Mormon clarifies understanding about: Our premortal existence. Death. It is a necessary component of God’s great plan of happiness. Postmortal existence, which begins in paradise. How the resurrection of the body, reunited with its spirit, becomes an immortal soul. How our judgment by the Lord will be according to our deeds and the desires of our hearts. How ordinances are properly performed: for example, baptism, sacrament, conferring the Holy Ghost. The Atonement of Jesus Christ. The Resurrection. The important role of angels. The eternal nature of priesthood. How human behavior is influenced more by the power of the word than the power of the sword. The Book of Mormon reveals information previously unknown: Baptisms were performed before Jesus Christ was born. Temples were built and used by people in ancient America. Joseph, 11th son of Israel, foresaw the prophetic role of Joseph Smith. Nephi (in 600-592 BC) foresaw the discovery and colonizing of America. Plain and precious parts of the Bible have been lost. The Light of Christ is given to each person. The importance of individual agency and the need for opposition in all things. Warnings about “secret combinations.”

    @@emilydunn4170 thanks for asking! Latter-Day Saints belong to the restored gospel and Church of Jesus Christ, as was set up by Christ in the Early-Day Church. We believe that: 1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. 2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression. 3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. 4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. 5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof. 6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth. 7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth. 8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. 9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. 10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory. 11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. 12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law. 13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

  • @MichaelP_IsMe

    @MichaelP_IsMe

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes Danny D! I shake my head every time I hear that the Book of Mormon took place in "the Americas". In his written revelations and letters, Joseph Smith always only used singular words like "America", "this country", "this land", "this continent" and the descendants of Book of Mormon people being the Native Americans of "this country". And the Lord Himself says multiple times in the Doctrine & Covenants that the border of the Lamanites was the west border of Missouri (which was the west border of the U.S. during Joseph's time), right where the U.S. government forced (drove and scattered) the Native Americans from their homelands in the east onto reservations. Missionaries didn't even go south of the Rio Grande until about a hundred years after the Book of Mormon was first published. Yet the very first missionaries of the Church were sent by the Lord (in Doctrine and Covenants 28, 30, and 32) to "the border of the Lamanites", just west of the Missouri border to the Native American reservations just a few months after the Book of Mormon was published in 1830. I also shake my head every time I see people showing Central/South American ruins in art/video as Book of Mormon "ruins". The ruins and artifacts of Central/South America match up exactly with ancient Hindu and other east Asian ruins and artifacts. But the ancient civilizations of the North American Adena and Hopewell Mound-builders (not Mississippian) are the ones who have ruins/artifacts that match up exactly with the Hebrew people of the Book of Mormon as well as their timelines. Ancient Hebrew/Middle-Eastern language and customs are still preserved in some Native American tribes today. Also, the Great Lakes used to be higher, causing lakes Michigan and Erie to stretch further south into Indiana, and over time, leaving behind uninhabitable swamps that weren't drained until the 1800's. The lower Mississippi River used to be a massive inlet off of the Gulf of Mexico stretching clear up to what is now St. Louis, Missouri, until (according to the Kaw tribe) a massive earthquake caused the land to rise and slim it down to the river it is today. According to a documentary on the History Channel, massive New Madrid quakes like this are estimated to happen every few hundred years along the New Madrid fault line. The last one happened in 1811-1812 and shook the entire eastern half of the U.S. and match the natural disasters in the Book of Mormon right down to 3 days of darkness and vapor causing people to suffocate and being too dense to allow people to make fire. New Madrid quakes make California quakes look like babies. Anyway, my point is, during the time periods of the Adena and Hopewell Mound-builders, the eastern half of what is now the U.S. was almost entirely surrounded by seas, with a couple of narrow passes/necks leading up into what is now eastern Canada, and the northern Mississippi River and Chicago River connected the Lower Mississippi inlet to Lake Michigan. Also, the Mississippi River is called "Namaesi-Sipu" by Native Americans and means "River of Fish", and the word "Sidon" is related to "Fish" in Greek, Phoenician, and Egyptian. The Book of Mormon says Zarahemla was on the west side of the River Sidon, and in Doctrine and Covenants 125, the Lord tells Joseph to call the land across from Nauvoo, Illinois, Zarahemla, which is on the west side of the Mississippi River in Iowa. The Church owned more land in Zarahemla than they did in Nauvoo before they were driven out by the mobs. In these last days, the Lord has only named 3 places - New Jerusalem, Adam-Ondi-Ahmen, and Zarahemla. Pretty significant, I think. Sorry for the long response. You probably already know this stuff if you're into this kind of research. As you can tell, I LOVE researching Book of Mormon lands and people. But long before I knew any of this stuff, I knew the Book of Mormon was true by an answer from the Spirit of God. It's just fun to discover remnants of their culture right here in North America that I can easily go visit. I'm glad more people (in and out of the Church) are learning this stuff. This whole Central/South American scene has been a big roadblock to the validity of the Book of Mormon. Of course, an answer from the Spirit of God will always be needed to know the Book of Mormon is true, because just like the Bible, places and cultures from the Bible can be proved as well, but the miracles of God contained within the Bible can only be believed in faith and then "proved" by an answer from the Holy Ghost.

Then, as culture shifted, so did their interpretations and beliefs around the subject of race. Why would I believe in something that let's the culture shape its core values instead of *it* shaping the culture (and on such clearly and crucially horrible discriminatory choices)? Shows a lack of concrete consistency in the belief system and is also extremely offensive at the same time. Not only is it holding doctrine until it isn't cool to do so. Joe Smith was a false prophet, and tries to usurp God. The BOM contains MAJOR contradictions to the Bible. You need to throw the BOM away and just stick to the Bible, the ONLY true, complete, inspired word of God that you'll ever need.

    This is a great question. If you found out that one of your parents or grandparents kept a journal that you didn't know about, would you be interested to read what they wrote? There's likely some additional insight into their life and their experiences and their thoughts. This is similar to the Book of Mormon. It doesn't compete with or replace the Bible, it's another testament of Jesus Christ. It helps us to learn more about him and his teachings with the people on the ancient American continent.

    @@ericwenstrom9628 Don't be fooled by the scholars and intellectuals. The Book of Mormon and Mesoamerican timelines don't match up. For example, "El Castillo (Spanish pronunciation: [el kas'tiʎo], Spanish for "the castle"), also known as the Temple of Kukulcan (or sometimes Kukulkan), is a Mesoamerican step-pyramid that dominates the center of the Chichen Itza archaeological site in the Mexican state of Yucatán." Chichen Itza wasn't built until the 8th to 12th Century AD. This was 400 to 800 years AFTER the Book of Mormon ended! Take a look at the July 2020 Friend Magazine. It shows a picture of Alma standing in front of Chichen Itza--about 1,000 plus years AFTER Alma taught the people. I can't blame the artists. Artists paint what they were taught. We were all taught the Mesoamerican model. Sadly, the come Follow Me Book of Mormon 2020 manual includes over 1/3 of all the artwork which promotes the Mesoamerican Model. That completely refutes any claim of neutrality on geography. The overwhelming evidence for Book of Mormon Geography is in America and it matches the Adena and Hopewell civilizations. Look at Ancient Monuments of the Mississippi Valley by Squire and Davis. It was published by Squire and Davis in 1848. Note the height of these platform mounds about 6 to 9-feet tall with ramps. See the Marietta Works on page 72. This fits very well with Exodus 20:24-26 24 ¶ An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt asacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee. 25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn astone: for if thou lift up thy btool upon it, thou hast polluted it. 26 Neither shalt thou go up by asteps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not bdiscovered thereon. Exodus clearly eliminates Mesoamerican stepped pyramids with no ramps! John L. Sorenson published Mormon's Codex in 2013. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Book of Mormon. It does contain a lot of information about Mesoamerican civilizations that happened much later in the historical timeline. It is really just confirmation bias and very haughty scholarly rhetoric. On page 688, John said, “There remain Latter-day Saints who insist that the final destruction of the Nephites took place in New York, but any such idea is manifestly absurd. Hundreds of thousands of Nephites traipsing across the Mississippi Valley to New York, pursued (why?) by hundred of thousands of Lamanites, is a scenario worthy only of a witless sci-fi movie, not of history.” Yes, it is true that the final battles of the Jaredites and Nephites and Lamanites took place on and around the same hill, hill Ramah (Jaredites) and hill Cumorah (Nephites) in western New York, where Joseph got the plates from Moroni.

There are theories, but no solid proof. And DNA has proven the BOM DEAD WRONG. The Indians migrated across the Bering Straight into North America, THEN travelled South. And they are of ASIAN descent. NOT middle eastern. So there ya go. God has a way of revealing false prophets, and of revealing truth. There is no book that can even begin to compare with the BIBLE.
