Correction to this video. Super Mario Bros. movie will have an IMAX 12-track sound mix which means it will have overhead sound in IMAX theaters equipped with the system. However, my opinion is that IMAX 12-track does not sound as good as Dolby Atmos based.

Saw this at the riverbank IMAX theater and what a disappointment, my home theater has more bass😅, this ruined my thoughts on IMAX

The best way to see this is in RealD 3D anywhere you can. Then again, 3D is my preferred format to see anything in theaters. Also, to answer your question, I'm seeing it at a Regal in Augusta, Maine, as that is the only major theater chain throughout much of the state. However I will be making the hour drive to Portland to see Guardians 3 in IMAX 3D.

Good to know! I saw Sonic 2 in 4DX and enjoyed that so will probably go for 4DX again for Mario. Luckily, we also have the option of IMAX and Regal RPX here in Buffalo, NY

greetings from Brooklyn, i saw Super Mario Bros. Movie in Regal IMAX (or as you have called it LIE-MAX) & standard 3D.

As much as I'd love to go watch a movie in a Dolby theater for the first time, I've already decided that with every movie that comes out this year, I'm going to go see them in reelD 3D if possible, because I absolutely love 3D movies and I doubt any movie that's coming out this year we'll get a 3D Blu-ray release in the home. And most movies will get brought home in Dolby Vision and Atmos. I even picked up a pair of clip-on polarized lenses so I can just wear my prescription glasses and get the 3D experience. Because of that I have decided to go see the Super Mario Bros movie at the regal Cinema in Bel Air, Maryland. I've never been to that theater but because of how out of fashion 3D movies are, I'm able to easily score the best seats in the house, middle row center.

@@MovieUniversity It's partially a necessity because a lot of these movies that are still getting 3D versions are unfortunately exclusive to the movie theater. Relatively few of them get brought home nowadays, I still have yet to watch puss in Boots the last wish partially because I'm sad that I didn't get a chance to see the 3D version. On the topic of 3D Blu-rays as well, I'm glad I started getting into those because it also awakened a desire to collect other movies in other formats like 4K UHD.

Also back to Dolby, there's an AMC Dolby theater about a half hour away from me so it'll be possible for me to go see a movie in Dolby someday. But I'd probably reserve it for something that isn't getting a 3D release, maybe Indiana Jones if It's confirmed to only be in 2D.

I'm planning on seeing it twice,, since I'm split on PLFs. I got tickets to see it in AMC Prime first, since they're showing it in 3D. Then a second time in Dolby Cinema for dual laser projection and Dolby Vision. It's a shame that Dolby Cinema 3D didn't take off after Avatar 2. Mario would've been so much better with Dolby 3D compared to RealD, which Prime uses.

I have a niche for powerful sound and visuals when I go to a movie theater. I have heard many positive things about Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos and IMAX. I can't really tell which one I like more I just know that Dolby & IMAX are both good (IMO) Anyway if I had to choose what format is the best overall to watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie in I would say Dolby for picture and sound.

I was going to watch it in Dolby but ended up in imax.

I seen it in 4DX it was epic!

I’m aiming for 4DX 3D!, if not then just RealD 3D. Saw the trailer for it in 3D many times and I love it! I know 3D gets a lot of hate and it’ll probably die out after all the Avatar sequels are out but I love it and I’ll enjoy it while I possibly can while it lasts. Plus I still play Mario Kart on my Nintendo 3DS, since some games where on that system the movie is pretty much made to be in seen in 3D.

I've been quite surprised how 3D has retained a small but very passionate fanbase over the years. I still see comments on social media to this day of people who wish physical media would still release movies in 3D.

@@Boudicaisback I unfortunately didn't see the film that way, so I don't know if I'm one to recommend. However, the one film I did see in 3D 4DX, Avatar: The Way of Water, was an absolute roller coaster ride. So I think if you're not to far from a 4DX theater, it'd probably be well worth seeing. As for taking a 5 year old, well, if Mario's 4DX experience is anything like Avatar 2's 4DX experience, yes, I think a child might enjoy the experience. But I'll have to warn you, the seat's motions can be pretty jarring at times and a light 5 year old might fly out of the chair if he/she is in the wrong position.

Dolby theaters definitely have the best audio format. The Dolby AMC near me needs to update their projector, though. It's not overly bright and crisp. I also have a new Cinemark XD near me. That picture is amazing, but the audio format is Auro, which is meh... it's loud, but it isn't an object based surround format like Atmos. I wish there was a DTSX theater near me.

auro is great for home (if you got the money for a proper setup). it's not that great for theater seating since auro is a three tiered system and theater seats are at an angle thus negating the whole auro experience

@Movie University I'm gonna respectfully disagree with you. Auro is useless to have at home. What content is native Auro? Next to none. No music & no decent movies. The only thing Auro has is that sometimes it's a good upmixer for music. It makes sense the company is going under. It could've been really good (easier speaker placement), but they couldn't get enough foot hold in the big markets.

As the new guardians of the galaxy just came out, all the dolby spots are filled out, the only option for me would be 3d in regular.

Why didn't you video like this during avatar the way of water. Was expecting a video like this in dec 😭😢 Went for Imax with laser for avatar 2 and it was a fantastic experience

I’m not much of a 3d fan. I know there are still some who like it but they are far and few in between these days.

We would both be seeing it in IMAX but would see it again in Dolby Cinema. Both theaters are cool.

3D for sure Illumination has great 3D, probably gonna splurge and go for Cinemark xd 3D

Great question Brittany. So regarding IMAX, almost all IMAXs in the world are now digital. Traditional 70mm film IMAX is are very hard to find. IMAX digital and IMAX 3d will more than likely be shown on the same screen, it really comes down to weather you want to see a movie in 2D or 3D. I have a video on IMAX on my channel that I think you would find very interesting. Let me know what you decide on!

Yes, guardians 3 will be presented in the 1.90 : 1 aspect ration which means it'll have about 20% more image on the top and bottom when compared to different theaters.

D box or 4dx

Saw this in the theater, it looked OK, kinda washed out. we have an OLED TV at home and just re watched Mario last night, it looked so much better on our TV then in the theater. I love the movie theater, but it's hard to justify going to the movie theater anymore.

There's certainly no harm in it. I'm not a fan of 3D so I would pass on it personally but if you like 3D then by all means, go see it in that format. Let me know what you decide on!

More than likely yes, if you like 3d. Animated movies tend to have good 3d in them because they're computer generated images and animators can manipulate images to appease the human eye easily.

How far away are the two? My experience with XD has varied. Some are fantastic like the one in Hanover, Maryland and others are lackluster.

I went to see it in AMC, movie was great , the bad thing was prior the movie , they show inappropriate commercials for kids , like Two men kissing, I was with my little kids, it was uncomfortable
