What is the Best Ship for High Grade Emission (HGE) Farming? Elite Dangerous Odyssey

Ойындар

This time I get dangerously close to designing a ship that is actually useful and worthwhile. Strap in.

Elite Dangerous Minimal Launcher takes HGE farming to the next level. You can use a /restart option when launching it. As soon as the game closes, it'll relaunch automatically. This alone shaves off 25-30s from the relog process. The Frontier launcher takes a lot of time to recognize the game closed and enable the Launch button again. Lastly: Condovichs is a great system for Imperial Shielding farming. Only the main star and the station (which has a Material Trader). Nothing else.

You can replace a size 3 collector controller with a size 3 multi function mining or operations controller, the 3B operations probably is the best, to get more collectors. For collectors alone the size 3 multi controllers are a direct upgrade at the cost of a bit more mass.

You could but that slows down deploying them over a 3D-3D-1D controller setup. And you have so many internal slots that I'm not sure what you'd put in that slot that you're freeing up.

@@Byssbod I believe I meant it for just outright having more limpets, I.e. having an operations 3, then 3D + 1D. More total possible active limpets at the cost of a bit more mass, could be a worthwhile trade off for some. Unless, you’re saying the controller flat out outputs limpets slower? I wasn’t aware of that if so, that’s good to know

@@guhak I believe more controllers lets you spit them out faster. And you'll never need more than 5 total limpets, these sites almost always have only 4 things to pickup. 5 is rare.

This is incredibly useful! I think you've earned yourself a new sub - and a dedicated viewer. Applying (more) scientific methodology to E:D ship design is something I've wanted to see for a long time.

I think your missing the more important reasons the Clipper is better than the Asp at this. 1. It looks way better and 2. It's engine sounds great and not like 1 long continuous fart...

I use an Asp Scout for a vertical flip. It carries just enough limpets with a Mining 4 Limpet Collector to completely fill up from zero to 100. It is cheap and works great. I will try that Yaw and Pitch roll in future (I never attended flight school) 😞 As Credits and Engineering Mats are no problem, I will try out your build. Thanks very much o7

HGE; Small ships with the highest cargo space: dolphin. But u'll need it to be shieldless for more cargo. With type A SCO it'll have good ranges too. And for others i'll stick with DBX

I love both the Cutter and Clipper (Cutter for Cargo runs and Laser Mining mainly). The Clipper is simply a joy to fly and versatile. Nice to see that its actually really good at a thing instead of just mediocre at everything. Now I just wished the hardpoints for weapons would not suck that much (you are forced into gimbals...). One thing also: the Clipper has exceptional heat management. If you build for it you base heat will be like 11% or so which means less interdictions, scans and so on (also good versus thargoids, I used mine to gather stuff in the caustic clouds). with a good scope and heat management it is also a good explorer. it does not jump as far as an Asp Explorer, but you can jump faster (scope + staying closer to the star before starting your FSD to jump to the next system = overall faster travels than with an Asp)

It's funny to run across this. I use my Clipper for only two things HGEs and occasional laser mining. The other material gathering ship is the Phantom.

Well, I use Anaconda for this for no good reason. But the point is that you dont turn in supercruise. I flip the ship 180 degrees before turning the game off in the normal soace.

I'm not sure that I understand the mechanics of the turn itself. What is the mechanism of turning and pitching at the same time? I mean from what im looking at you're not combining pitch and yaw, it looked like you're doing pitch and roll

Interesting perspective but unfortunately, just like most other CMDRs, my fleet is packed with "module storage type-10"s and my shipyard is already painfully slow to load. Naturally, I'm consolidating special purpose ships into general purpose ships. So, what can we do with "Flipper" other than HGEs?

It's also the ship I use for Raw Material gathering with flak launchers, since it's already loaded for collector limpets, although an Anaconda can fit more and get there faster for obvious reasons.

I just use my phantom, there is no great reason to overkill specialize a ship for HGE farming to save what? like 5-10% time on something you do a few times a year maybe? the phantom worked great, i could max out my inventory on imp shields for example in 4-5 minutes. and hit up several more signals before docking. theres no way the time you spend buying/loadingout/engineering a ship is going to be made up in its lifetime..

Tto many people, pay ro win is when any advantage is given in any way in a game and with an NVME/fastest loading, SDD/faster loading and HDD slowest loading. Loading times dictate your HGE cycle time. The faster the loading the shorter the cycle time and the more cycles you can do over time. Time management is king in all games that involve ginding. When you spend less time grinding, you have more time to practice to get gud👍This gives you an advantage over people who can't afford the faster hardware. You pay more to win more... Pay to Win 🏆 I don't agree with this game mechanic but it is the fastest way to farm manufacturing materials and fdev condones this method.

Pay to win means entirely new things now, and doesn't necessarily need to involve paying or even winning, and the item/method may even disadvantage you as well. I think it's much like any rage-bait concept you see on the internet, which need to escalate their meaning to retain video clicks, relevance, interest etc.

pfff.. I think "pay to win" would be a great addition to this game, hopefully a cure for this weird and sick obsession to grind and chore farming things, instead of just playing the game. Very sad.
