Many thanks. You've covered the topic very comprehensively. I hope that everybody in the mosquito-ridden parts of the world will have a good net. In Nigeria I used to tuck the bottom edge of the rectangular nets under the mattress to prevent other non-flying bugs from crawling in, e.g. dreaded bedbugs, centipedes, scorpions, spiders, snakes etc..

Makes me grateful to live in the U.K. But regardless this is useful for when visiting relatives abroad. Circular one is a complete no no. The square hanging one, besides being in impractical for concrete ceilings and fans (Pakistan) left a big gap in the opening. Welcome mosquitoes. The pop up one was by far the most secure and easy to set up. Absolutely worth lugging around for those reasons. Thank you.

In my country, we make 4 hooks in 4 corners of the room, then hang the rectangle net up and tuck it ends to the mattress or the mat. 👌

I end up purchasing 3 for different scenarios. I already have a camping one but it's too small for a bed. I haven't received the others yet. But I thought I might give a little advice, if you can find some full-strength permethrin, mix it with some water and completely spray your mosquito nets with it so if/when a mosquito lands on it, it will become paralyzed shortly and can't bite any longer. I spray permethrin on just about everything for any type of bug including spiders.

Circle mosquito nets are for baby beds that have high laterals that can hold the net on the corners. Or those old bed frames that had high pikes both in the head and feet of the bed frame.

Yes you can make you bed while using a pop up mosquito net. All you have to do is lift the net off the bed and set it aside. Then make you bed as you would normally do without the pillows. Replace the net on the made-up bed. Then lay the pillows I side the net, close it and voilà.

I use a simple technique when I place my curtain mosquito net. I place another blanket on the mattress I pinched the edges of the mosquito net around that blanket that I'm laying on. That way you don't need to be raising the mattress.

The best mosquito nets for me had a dis-mountable frame on top made by 2 or 4 flexed pieces of fiberglass, same principle as on some tents. They had the advantage of a larger area on top than the round frames one finds now., and were as easy to hang up as the round ones. Two more important advantages were that the frame could be dismounted for easy washing, and the frame was not in steel which where I live by the sea is an important considerations as the metal frames rust after a couple of years. They were just slightly more expensive than the round frames but I have not been able to find any now.

Here’s a question. What do the mosquitoes do when you have the net set up? Do they just circle the net all night long? Are they like a fly that keeps bumping into the window again, and again, and again? Before dying of exhaustion

I had an odd q if someone can help but for the pop up, I’m considering alavantor since it looks more durable than other brands and I have pets that could occasionally wander into to destroy the net.. So when you get up in the morning or even middle of the night tired, what is the best way to get in and out but not let bugs in? Let’s assume they’re on the net but you don’t notice or can’t see them if they’re on a seam or when you open it, they can somehow sneak in? I never thought of it until I realized the thought of seeing them crawling on the net, unsure how to get out without getting them in😅

oops i just bought the first one you talked about and i can see now that it will be a problem, i have not installed it yet, like you showed the net will be touching your body, maybe having a headboard would help to have your head free from the net, it would be nice if the round circle would be much larger. Or i can pin the corner up, the bed touches 2 walls, i will try that. Thanks for the video, very helpful.
