@@6lackjesus719 NO! The definition of "average" doesn't change (nor become unrealistic) because it doesn't represent what you want it to represent. You take the total earnings in a country & divide it by the total people in the workforce. It simply means "If the earnings were shared equally amongst labourers, how much would each labourer get". It doesn't mean "How much does a typical person earn". It is not a median. You don't need to be a statitian to understand it. There are CFOs, CEOs, CIOs that make millions a month.

According to the Economic Justice and Dignity Group. Averages are misleading. Paint the picture of one of the most unequal societies in the world as is. This economic structure is not sustainable. If you can say prices for things that would help real numbers not what they post on websites. Eg a loaf of bread, a tank full of fuel, and chicken breast per kilogram, a tee shirt, a dress, baby diapers etc thanks to anybody who replies. I mean shopping a regular store like woollies or whatever the most common grocery store there, To make it “average” also cost to rent a 2 bedroom apartment. Since this won’t be as difficult to compare like a house

Credit-cards, personal loans & store-cards are king here. We also cheapen our lifestyle: Cook simple meals, avoid going out, avoid prescriptions, use taxis (while your car is parked at home or used as an uber), cancel important things like medical-aid, car insurance & home insurance, bridge electricity so the meter gives incorrect meter readings, avoid trips & holidays, use duplicate clothing items & perfume, wear clothes twice before washing them, do our won domestic errands, handwash your laundry, use concentrated juice, go to cheap hair salons (or do our own hair), live in townships where rent is not paid or extremely cheap etc

Wow.. I am an unemployed Full Stack Developer, had to work as a car guard earning average R1.47 per hour @10 hours per day! Had to leave that to earn a whopping R27 per hour working at most 10 hours a week as and when needed as a delivery driver assistant. I pack, load, deliver and unpack entire homes and move them! Wow.. just wow.. i am also 50! I would literally work 18 hours a day for R8,000 per month! 24/7/365!!! And then I come home grateful for maybe R150 for the whole day, and see people who are earning at least R1k per day complaining? I guess gratitude can't be bought, nor can humility.. big love to all.

An average doesn't take into account of the lowest and highest denominator, it takes into consideration of every number on the given scale, that's why it's called an average. It's not propaganda it's basic maths. Also living in the township will obviously not get you a job that will get you higher earning salary, learn a skill that's in demand and become a valuable employee... This is how supply and demand works.
