A start capacitor is an electrical component used in some types of electric motors to aid in the motor's startup process. Once the motor reaches a certain speed, a mechanism like a centrifugal switch disconnects the start capacitor from the circuit to avoid continuous operation, as it is not needed beyond the initial startup phase.

actually this is wrong as many people do. energy stored in a staring capacitor is too small to move a motor stator. you need to underhand the phase principle of a induction motor.

A capacitor is like a battery but discharges much faster and does not store a charge for as long. the reason you need a capacitor is because there is not enough power on an average 110 circuit/available circuit, a capacitor gives a sudden increase in amperage during Break of inertia to start the electric motors

If the unit is running on 3 phase current. Then, the unit doesn't need a capacitor.
