What is Standard Deviation and Mean Absolute Deviation | Math, Statistics for data science, ML
Standard deviation and mean absolute deviation are used in statistics to measure how far apart individual data points are from the average or mean. In this video we will understand these two concepts by taking a simple example of math and history test scores.

So happy to see that you're making videos related to data science keep it up.
Struggling to write a lab report and this really helped. Thank you!
Thank you for a great example! First time I fully understand what the concept and math are all about
Never been more excited to learn Maths and Stats
Your presentation is so good and makes the concert simple
The best explanation so far, I found on the KZread. Thanks,
One of the best vdo that explains standard deviation so correctly..i love your content ...keep making such vdos...
Really love for what you contribute to data science field !!!
Clearly explained...Thank you so much
absolutely awesome explanation!! Thank You!
how easily you made the concepts clear!!
You are an absolutely brilliant teacher, this video is most likely the best explanation of standard deviation on this platform
A Perfect Explanation. Thanks.
Beautifully explained ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much...cleared all doubt...
seriously, well explained
found exactly what i was looking for. Thanks sir.
Better than any other videos on youtube.
That helped me understand! Thank you!
I have not seen such a nice explanation of significance of standard dev. Thank you

very clear explanation. thank you so much
Love it killer explanation
These contents should have much more views !
I am ready with my notebook, pen and laptop :) cant wait more ....:)
You're such a nice person talk maths extreme politely since maths is explicit for me 🔥.I wish this channel reach a good stand on yt.❤️
Thanks for the great explanation 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Sir...after 32 years of my age I understood standard deviation today🤪👍

Sir Thank you much. I have no word to explain my love for your videos.
This video is really helpful. Thank you sir
Super useful 👏🏼
Fantastic explanation
Made easy to understand 👍🏻
Thank you, sir. easy to understand.
Very nicely explained
Thank you for explaining the concept. Everyone know the equation of variance, standard deviation and how to calculate it. But my question was what does this number actually means? This video explains it well.
Wonderful explanation 👌
Awesome Explanation, just loved it. Very simply explained. Why can we have the same in college/universities !!!
really thanks for these videos. i learning too much knowledge for data science and i developing my english.
Very help full
good job and good explaination
I was struggling to understand standard deviation and this guy taught me in 8 min
Thank you sir it's very easy to understand with an example. It would be great if you'll do more insights on Hypothesis testing as well.

Thank you very well explained and easy to follow; I think when that famous man was once quoted in saying "if you can't explain something in simple form maybe you don't understand it yourself" he was thinking of you. Good simple explanation ! ps: that was Einstein I precision shoot rifles and the SD now is a big issue and discussed when collecting an array of numbers. Only question I ask now is when someone says the SD is very low for a set of target hole variations calculations I ask compared to what ? No-one has an answer for that.
Please keep posting videos of this series

Good revision for individuals & well explanation between average, Mean average deviation (MAD), and standard deviation. The video would have been called perfect if the last 5 min (formulae) elaborated, for beginners, it can be difficult to comprehend from different fields. example: submission steps - how do they look on board? PS. Totally understand time constrain & just referring to your previous videos the way depth of explanation.
Sir you are a awesome teacher 😀

Imagine heart from @codebasics
Thank you guru very nice explanation I'm getting the difference between variance and SD all peoples simply said with square root and w/o square root...but i actually need the layman terminologies of both variance and SD
Best vedio
Good Shyt. Thanks for explaining the formation of the formula. That's where Indian teachers fail.
Tnx sir
Wow sr great explained, in-depth fundamental why we do sqare and why we need standard deviation instead of mad🙏👍

I'm curious to know when you will release your data science course?
Hi @codebasics. Very nice explanation about MAD and SD. What happens if we use SD when the data is not normally distributed. At 7.33 minutes it states that using SD has nice properties. What are those nice properties?. A step-by-step method on when to use SD and when to use MAD on data points will be helpful. Thank you :)

Sometimes we describe MAE in terms like 'The overall mean absolute error (MAE) of the 49 subjects was 0.911 ± 1.65.' Can u plz explain what does that mean of +,- with some number
Thankyou so much for making python and power bi courses, I purchase it, and I really like it. I learn real time project how to be done in the company. Now, I have confidence that I can do something in this field. Can You make a course for how statistics use in data science? It would really help us. Thankyou in advance.

Yeah there is Stat quest, there is Luis Serrano but don't forget in the same line there is Dhaval sir...!!! Mit liebe aus Deutschland ✌❤
Thanks so much for this video, it made the concept a lot clearer. I do have a question however, I don't know if I'm miscalculating but for the 4th table, wouldn't the score avg. be 71, which would change the MAD to 4? Because if you add up the scores (83+70+70+63+70+70), you get 426, divided by 6 (number of students), it's 71. Right?? Or am I missing something? And then for the abs. column it would change to: 12, 1, 1, 8, 1, 1; that totals 24. 24 : 6 = 4 for our MAD. Could somebody verify this or explain where my logic is off please?
very nice explanation with pictorial representation can u pls make complete statistics playlist many many thanx Sir

How can I find mean and variance of probability distribution using python? I have mentioned a problem below. Thanks in advance! The number of times I go to the gym in weekdays, are given below along with its associated probability: x = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 f(x) = 0.09, 0.15, 0.40, 0.25, 0.10, 0.01 Calculate the mean no. of workouts in a week. Also evaluate the variance involved in it.

Excellent content, I am searching for Machine Learning course on your platform, but I think Machine learning course is not there yet, Is there live training on Machine Learning and Data Science Available ?
4:26 but the mean shouldn't be 70 on second distribution..
00:03 Mean Absolute Deviation and Standard Deviation measure the spread of data points from the average. 01:05 Standard Deviation measures the spread of data points from the average. 02:10 Calculating standard deviation helps understand the spread of data. 03:18 Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD) measures the spread of data points. 04:24 Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD) may not accurately represent data distribution. 05:19 Standard deviation measures the spread of data points. 06:27 Standard deviation is an important concept in data science and statistics 07:24 Understanding l1 and l2 norms in statistics and machine learning Crafted by Merlin AI.
Hii!!! I have a doubt that here we have taken 2 data set, So that by comparing we told that one data set have more scatter from mean. What if we take one data set, how can we know we have more scatter from mean(If exsist) ??
Is it right that division of M.A.D. and standard deviation gives arithmetic mean ? If yes, please explain
can I get the presentation?
So what's difference between mad and regression?
5:31 if i add few more person with 70 mark then even stander deviation again become near to mean deviation so how it is full proof concept thus in that case variablity is compare by coefficient of variance
Great Tutorial, I know now what is Standard Deviation, but why should I know how far the data are from average, I mean what is the use of it?
