I watched you every week when I was a kid with my dad, it was back when there was 3 stations 6,8,12 and no cable . There was only about 4 fishing shows on tv at that time, one was the fishing hole the other two were Jimmy Houston and Roland Martin.

Today, 22 April 2020, marks 24th year anniversary since getting out of the USAF. What is even greater than that is on 19 September 1986, the weekend prior to my trip to Lackland AFB, Tx, I caught a 5 pound bass on the shad colored Dancing Eel on a 15 acre pond south of Athens, Tx. One of my best fishing memories of all. Thank you Mr Bill Dance.

Met you and shook your hand at tackle shop called Bob Wolfe's in Spartanburg SC. That was around 1986. Still use the dancing eel from time to time. Love to see that bait brought back into production.

I used to do this with a 3-inch tube bait or broken pieces of my jelly worms for the kids. They'd just toss it and reel and pull fish in all day.

Now that's a great technique I'm eager to give a try. Thanks for introducing it to us. Would you say that it is only useful during the situations you described, or could it also be used as an alternative for Carolina rigging in deep water with a lot of bottom vegetation? Thanks again for all the great videos. We love you, Bill!

I like to get about 2 inches of braid to wrap around the line then I crimp the split shot on and it doesn't slip at all because of the braid, and it won't wear your line down as much.

Bill Dance goes Barbless is another great innovation for bass fishing that is as important as catch and release fishing. Once you try removing the barb and finding out how well it works you will see for yourself. Not only do hooks come out with less effort they go in easier too.

@@pain_weaver You are right nothing wrong with eating bass if you like. They are just as tasty as crappies and as plentiful. It just makes the ones that are too small to eat easier to release. You need a barbed hook if you use live bait as well. Most people don’t eat fish because they don’t know how to clean them or are too lazy to do the cleaning.

I use the the same tech here in early spring and dead summer accept with a tube.

Hey bill I would like to know what bait to use in the cold

You can do the same with a bullet weight and a bullet weight T stop and you won't end up with damaged line from the split shot causing you to potentially lose a fish.

The steer in the background near the beginning gives it away. All they have in Florida is gators.

“Split-shotting” is more akin to the Carolina rig. You might even say it is a hybrid Texas rig and Carolina rig

the weight shape also affects how the lure sinks or swims. it sinks in a different way than it would with a bullet weight that the Texas rig uses.

Very effective in the private lakes you fish I'm sure

21' bass boat in a private pond/lake? Every bass averaging over 5lb. This isn't real fishing. I'm pretty sure these fish don't see many lures. It's like fishing a pond in the Garden of Eden. Feels more like an infomercial for Bass Pro Shops than a fishing show. It's fun to watch but it's not reality.

& quit holdin them poor fish like your trying to break there jaw

No evidence that holding a bass like that is bad for them. And don't point me to that dumb picture example. No scientific evidence that holding a bass like that is harmful. Only opinions no facts.

@@pain_weaver been watching him for many many years , why don't he just hold his fish like everyone else, straight down , just seems to me he's putting alot of pressure on their jaws that's not necessary, I been a avid bass fisherman for 30 couple years, maybe not that bigga deal ,just irratates me!!

@@jeffhager9398 I am with you on this, their jaw cannot hold their weight up, the bigger they worse it is. Tiny bones and tendons break causing them not to be able to eat. Why take the chance? You release back into the water so the fish might live and bite again. Why take the chance on harming the fish?

@@Cowboycash1637 Spoke with him also. About his blooper episode where the snake drops out of the tree on to him, he is very laid back but likes to cut up. He signed a friends hat on the inside of the flap/head band part and in the lettering. Friend was looking all over sa Au ing I saw him sign my hat but where. Bill was laughing so hard.
