What Is Silicon Bronze & When Would You Use It? Filling Factory Seams on the '62 Impala
You may have heard of tig brazing with silicon bronze, but when and how would you do it?
In this video, Brandon Gerringer (@brandongerringer) shows how he uses silicon bronze to fill the factory seams in our 1962 Impala SS project.

Small detail but huge difference, nice!
Tigging SiBronze is soo handy, unlimited possibilities, low heat and distortionless joining. Argon and about 30 amps. Two percent thoreated 3/32 tungsten.

It just works! And thank you.
Is this suitable for all gaps? Say where the roof skin connects to the pillars on an older truck? Could/Should you fill in these seams to get a smoother finish? Thanks for sharing!

@@oldanvilspeedshop Thanks! I figured as much! hmmm now to decide if I should.... Love the channel thanks for sharing!
“What is silicon bronze” Its more liquidy than the leading brand 😶😶😶 😂😂😂😂🎉 i stayed for the 62, and did get quite a chuckle, so theres that 😁🥳 I woulda been happy with “real fucking fancy brazing rod” Since… im gonna guess it is 🤷🏻♂️ but… im certain brazing rod, flux and a tig torch is NOT gonna work 🤣 (i have no tried, and kinda know better) So… my question is this! Whats the difference between silicon bronze rod, and brazing rod 🤔 Really good job on the editing and quality of the video BTW #keepitup #imjusttalkinshit 😉

So silicone bronze is a different metal composition than regular brazing rod with the flux on it. I'm pretty sure regular brazing rod has lead in it, and different amounts of copper and I believe tin. I looked it up years ago and that's what I remember. Data analysis sheets will tell you the difference. I never tried to knock the flux off regular brazing rod and tig it. The argon shielding gas takes the place of flux. I'll have to try that now.
