This video covers the two main components of sensor ID: the hardware component and software component. Sensor ID technology is used common globally in applications such as key fobs and electronic payment systems. However, its application in the world of data acquisition systems is often misunderstood.
A Sensor ID chip is a tiny integrated circuit, only about 2 mm across, with two wires: a blue wire and a black wire. The video explains how a Sensor ID chip can be installed inside any connector, from the smallest Omnetics connectors to the larger LEMO style connectors. For any test engineer that manages a large inventory of sensors, the benefits of using Sensor ID are huge.
The video demonstrates how easy it is to move sensors between tests and different data acquisition channels, by simply connecting the sensor and running the test. The ID locations are automatically detected, and the sensor data is applied to the correct channels. Whether you are using DTS SLICEWare or DataPRO control software, both packages offer convenient tools to read Sensor ID chips and automatically link them to the corresponding sensor data.
