What Is Schizoaffective Disorder?

Ғылым және технология

What Is Schizoaffective Disorder
Schizoaffective disorder is a diagnostic concept that recognizes that some people appear to have characteristics of both a mood disorder and a psychotic disorder. It's a complicated concept because psychosis can often accompany mood disorders, and people with psychosis can often have disturbances of mood. Yet schizoaffective disorder might not be an appropriate diagnosis in these examples.
This lecture explains the history of the schizoaffective concept, spells out current diagnostic criteria, and discusses ongoing problems with how this condition is defined in the DSM-V.
This lecture was given at the February 2, 2021 meeting of the SZconsult learning community.
SZconsult is a free consultation + education service offered by Northeast Ohio Medical University. It’s open to any clinician who wants to learn more about schizophrenia-spectrum illness, or who wants to tap into the collective wisdom of the learning community to find answers to clinical problems.

I have Schizoaffectivedisorder Disorder. I've always had it. Was just misdiagnosed for years. Something important for Psychiatrist and I Psychologist to do instead of guessing diagnosis. Make sure to do a full Psychological evaluation. So we can be treated properly

This is my life experience : Intense panic attacks, clinical anxiety, major depressions, paranoia, tactile hallucination and auditory hallucination. I experienced a lot and it is difficult to live like this. I received a diagnosis of schidzoaffective disorder some 10 years ago during a psychosis that lasted about a month. The thing is, all these episodes happen when my life is out of control. Mainly when I think i womt be able to provide financially for myself. You see, my father lost everything when i was 7 or 8 years old. We went from very well off to poor. This was my trauma because of how it affected our familly life. Now my adult brain is affraid of being poor and the anxiety it causes me creates all these mental problems. Whats your trauma ? Maybe finding the source can help reduce the symptoms. All the best.

Having been misdiagnosed with this and drugged as such instead of Complex PTSD from scapegoating and narcissistic abuse, the drugs gave me suicidal thoughts, paranoia, and opened me up to further abuse cycles. i am disgusted with the psychiatric field. Worst drug pushers in the world. Those wearing the whit coats saying lets rewire your brain. Pure torture with no way of getting justice without further trauma. All i can do is hope there is a hell they go to and experience everything they've done to me.

I have schizoaffective bipolar type. I'm on disability. My meds have helped a ton, but I'm constantly paranoid that my psychiatrist is going to change my diagnosis, and I'll lose my disability insurance. If I don't have that insurance I can't afford my meds. Then I lose my mind again.

When the positive symptoms are present for their 2 or more weeks without a major mood episode, are they typically accompanied by negative symptoms? If so, I'm half wondering if a schizoid state should count as a type of mood episode (with chronicity instead being referred to as part of a schizoid personality)

Entering(submersion 3 times with a short prayer and crossing yourself)in water springs of orthodox saints(which are near or in monasteries) give very much power and sureness to people with depression, panic attacks, Tourette sindrom, schizofrenia and other soul illnesses before getting to the eucharisty that heals all soul illnesses. There are some springs of mother of mother of God that also heal all soul illnesses. Soul illnesses can be enherited or from sins. If you have diseases, bad luck, impotence, you can only have a discussion with the same person (with the purpose of making a relationship) or you can talk with nobody, etc. it can be from witch spellings. In the Zlătari church in Bucharest, every Wednesday at 17:00 it is read the akathist with untiying prayer to St. Cyprian and st. Justin against all sorcery charms and all demons deeds. This akathist can be ordered at any other orthodox church if you are baptized orthodox, you have to write on a paper your name as you were baptised also the name of the prayer to be read by the priest and the date when it should be read and give it to the person in charge, ordinarily he/she is located in the church at a special stand near the entrance.

This guy is not explaining anything. I’m a confused and I live with it. I had a full on conversation with a woman during my last episode. The woman in question was explaining why I need to take precautions to protect my family. She was there but not physically. Lol. That’s my description of what this is. But I am starting to think maybe we have a gift into accessing another dimensions.

Sorry, but I got the feeling that people that have schizoaffective disorder are a pain in the ass to these doctors who are supposed to be treating us, not judging us. Also, that schizoaffective disorder is not a real disorder you either have bipolar or schizophrenia and to just review the diagnosis in a couple of years because in his mind schizoaffective disorder doesn't really exist.

Very hard to follow a small postage stamp sized box of a person speaking about a subject that is important. It seems like I’m watching a business card instead of a lecture. I would appreciate subtitles if I’m not able to see the face of the person speaking.
